  • The general use of Hun and Po in the medical texts, as the souls of a human
  • Specific uses of the two aspects of spirit linked to the Liver-Wood and the Lung-Metal.

Zhi (Will) and Yi (Intent)

  • The traditional explanation of Zhi and Yi
  • The functioning of the mind and the building of the thought
  • The use of Yi and Zhi in medicine and the variations of the will (Zhi) with the seasons
  • Their relation to the Spleen and Kidneys and representing the activity of the Earth and the Water element in the functioning of the Heart/mind.
