The reward of healing our patients comes as a result of building a successful practice. This same interdependency exists in the foundation of our medicine: Yin and Yang. We need both clinical skills and business skills to bring forth success. When you choose to be a practitioner of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture you are choosing to run a business. Yin and Yang are interdependent, one cannot exist without the other and when they separate there is death. Focusing only on clinical skills and not tending also to the running of your business will lead to demise of your practice. Just as you learned skills to be a practitioner, there are skills necessary for building and managing your business successfully. I created this book for health-care providers. The success principles contained in this book apply to any small business, but I had in mind acupuncturists and other individuals providing medical healing to our communities. When I set out to write Missing the Point, my goal was to create short but impactful chapters. I have added at the end of each chapter a section called āPutting It into Practice.ā Having an idea and good intention is the first step; however, to manifest success in your life requires action, too. The āPutting It into Actionā will help you start the process of taking action. Lorne Brown B.Sc., CPA, Dr.TCM, FABORM, CHt
