Applications of Trigger Point Therapy & Dry Needling Techniques Seminar Recording

Event recorded on 20th February 2023.

Course Overview

Dry needling has been readily adopted by many allied healthcare workers, the likes of acupuncturists, physiotherapists, osteopaths and chiropractors. Although there was a similar form of the needling technique in TCM theory called Ah Shi Acupuncture, Dry Needling and Trigger Point therapy developed independently as a result of pain referral pattern studies, testament of Czech Physician Karel Lewit in the 1970’s. It was developed as a result of injections into trigger points which upon injection, relieved pain regardless of whether there was analgesics within the injection.

Dry needling encompasses the use of a filiform needle which is the exact same needles used in Acupuncture – traditionally known as Acupuncture Needles (with reference to traditional cultures and sources – https://www.healthcentre.org.uk/acupuncture/types-of-acupuncture-needle.html).

When learning how to get a Local Twitch Response (LTr) through correct dry needling techniques into a myofascial trigger point, technique and location is particularly important when completing this course. Remain competitive and up to date with the latest understanding, pain referral patterns and techniques for the below muscles.

Learn which muscles to penetrate deeply and superficially in order to complete the technique safely and efficaciously.

Learn how to find trigger points and what to do, where to search and how to needle them well, which needles you can needle deeply and which need to be needled superficially along with needling angle, direction and appropriate technique.
