Description
Synopsis by author, Chris Bishop:
Complexity can easily lead to confusion.
The biggest problem with the study of Oriental Medicine is the overwhelming amount of information and number of approaches. This is the legacy of such an ancient art. Time has created much confusion.
The concept of this book emerged from my own early learning struggles, and now my students confront roadblocks in many areas of understanding as I did. I have endeavoured to provide clarity, insight and guidance in an attempt to remove these roadblocks.
Many texts have quality content but fail to adequately explain how to apply it clinically. They often use theoretical models that are never seen in the clinic. For me, the primary purpose of any Oriental Medicine text or treatment is to improve health, happiness and general wellbeing of humanity.
My focus is, and always has been, on the patient and the clinical outcome. Consistently good clinical results will also lead to a successful clinic.
After many years of study and practice, this is my attempt to both summarise and simplify all that information down to the absolute basics that are necessary for a successful treatment. As an introduction to Classical Acupuncture, hopefully all that you will need in the way of background and clinical knowledge is here in just one look.
My most treasured times have been with my clinically focused teachers – observing the art and process of delivering clinical excellence.
Not everyone has the opportunity to have a teacher or mentor guide them through their growth as a practitioner. While no book can replace actual time in the clinic, this is what I am teaching my students. My aim is to hopefully pass my knowledge and experience on to you.
Acupuncture Demystified is jam-packed with clinically relevant information, guidelines, techniques and instruction. The background information that I believe is necessary for full understanding of your clinical approach is also included.
It is my hope that both you and your patients will benefit greatly from these words.
“A rich insight, commentary and education on the art and profession of acupuncture and moxibustion.”
