Everyone experiences emotional trauma at some point in their life, whether in utero, at birth, in childhood, in adolescence or in adulthood. Trauma can be caused by a car accident, emotional upheaval, natural disaster, medical complication, childbirth, physical and emotional assault, death and many other life events.
This course aims to provide a detailed understanding of emotional trauma etiology. Learn to become proficient in the multiple diagnostic methods to successfully identify how trauma has affected an individual. Learn the skills to effectively treat emotional trauma with the multiple modalities of Chinese medicine and be well versed in self care techniques to transform past trauma and prevent the impact of future trauma.
What You Will Learn
Day 1: Treating the Overall Disruption of the Body Systems
- Understand the general diagnostic signs of trauma and how to reset the overall physiology of the body.
- Detailed explanation of the theory behind the Gathering the Qi Treatment and a treatment demonstration.
- How to address an emotional trauma trapped in the body, a demonstration of the Soothing the Trauma Memory Treatment.
- Qigong and drumming techniques to center a patient.
- Practice qigong standing and shaking forms.
- Self-care techniques to stabilize a patient after trauma.
- The role of the five spirits (Zhi, Hun, Shen, Yi, and Po) in emotional trauma.
- Explore the multiple diagnostic methods to determine how an individual has been affected by emotional trauma:

Day 2: Treating the Individual Manifestations of Trapped Trauma
- Channel theory and acupuncture point selection.

- Differentiate the various manifestations of emotional trauma.

- Discuss strategies to address sensory organ impairment due to emotional trauma.
- Demonstrate cupping and bloodletting techniques to treat trauma.
- Utilizing nutrition and sleep hygiene to balance the emotions and bolster the five elements.
- Comparing and contrasting the Western medical approach to trauma.
Day 3: Preventing the Impact of Future Trauma
- Determine the trauma cycle and faulty belief systems
- Lifestyle and dietary changes to prevent the impact of future trauma.
- Inherited trauma and how to address it with channel theory.
- Case studies displaying the co-ordination of the many facets of diagnosing and treating trauma
