The Modern Practitioner’s Guide to Fertility Treatments with Kim Gatenby

6 November, 2022, 9:30 am - 5:00 pm

Seminar Description

Fertility patients are no longer satisfied with just using acupuncture as an adjunctive treatment to their IVF cycles. They are seeking practitioners who will dedicate time to explaining their health in detail, and find the missing pieces that other specialists have missed, in order to help them grow their family.

This full day seminar will teach you how to interpret medical tests and scans, understand the diagnosis and treatment of complex fertility disorders, and prescribe supportive treatments to help your patients get pregnant, faster. You will leave feeling confident in treating any fertility patient that seeks your help, including male patients, while also being able to support them during pregnancy and beyond.

Review your understanding of the most common fertility presentations you will likely see in clinic, such as endometriosis, PCOS/PCO, fibroids, advanced maternal age, low ovarian reserve, high NK cells, recurrent miscarriage, thyroid dysfunction, vaginal microbiome dysbiosis, thin uterine lining, sperm abnormalities, and varicocele.

A portion of the seminar will involve interactive group participation in case studies to solidify your learning. You are encouraged to bring notes on your trickiest cases so the group can troubleshoot them together with your learnings from the day.

Course Outline

  • Conditions and causes of infertility
  • Basal Body Temperature (BBT) charting to diagnose fertility conditions in TCM
  • Lifestyle factors and their impact on fertility
  • How to interpret blood and ultrasound test results
  • Choosing supplements based on test results and diagnosis.
  • How to support patients during IVF
  • How to transition to pregnancy treatments to support optimal foetal and maternal health.
  • Putting it into practice with case studies
