Yamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA) is an acupuncture microsystem developed in 1973 by Dr. Toshikatsu Yamamoto. This innovative approach harnesses anatomical and channel somatotopes to modulate biologically-mediated signaling. About Dr Emily Teo
Dr Emily Teo graduated in medicine from the University of New South Wales in 1970. She started studying acupuncture in 1987, and in 1993 obtained her Fellowship from the Australian Medical Acupuncture College. In 2002, she obtained her Master in Applied Science, majoring in Acupuncture. Throughout her career, she has been deeply involved in acupuncture education, as lecturer, tutor, mentor and examiner.
YNSA started as a chance encounter with Dr Toshikatsu Yamamoto in Vienna in 2000 and since then became a direct disciple for over 23 years with Dr Yamamoto along with being a close friend.
In 2004, Dr Teo, as Chair of Education, AMAC, invited Dr Yamamoto to run the first YNSA workshop in Australia, at the ICMART Congress in Sydney Australia. Dr Yamamoto has over the years conducted six workshops in Sydney, Perth, and in 2017, a workshop in Brisbane. Dr Teo has also conducted a series of YNSA workshops in Australia across several states and has mentored students from these courses. More recently, she has also conducted YNSA workshops overseas.
Dr Emily Teo runs a full time acupuncture practice in Australia, with YNSA as the main technique offered. To keep up to date with the latest developments in YNSA, Dr Teo attends yearly workshops conducted by Dr Yamamoto in Miyazaki, Japan.
