Seminar Description

Dr. Cole Magbanua’s Bodymapping Acupuncture Technique is an anatomical based distal point method following in the spirit of Master Tung’s acupuncture.

This 3 day intensive seminar and workshop covers three part as an beginner/foundations, intermediate and advanced course. This seminar is jam packed with information that offers both the basics of distal point acupuncture with emphasis on channel location, point selection, and needle technique. We will cover anatomical bone and muscle correspondence, and the treatment of them.

We will demonstrate these powerful techniques and perform sample treatments in the practical component.

After completion students will be able to immediately apply the technique in clinic with a deeper understanding of the theory and mechanisms of frequently used and effective acupuncture and Master Tung Points listed below.

 

Seminar and Workshop Outline

Day 1 – Beginners and Foundations

The morning offers the basics of distal point acupuncture with emphasis on channel location, point selection, and needle technique. We will also look into anatomy and muscle correspondence. The most used and effective acupuncture points will be covered in detail with emphasis on location, usages, and needle technique.

The afternoon will cover channel location, specific and accurate point location, effective needling technique, and demonstration and practice time. Needling demonstrations and treatments will round out the lecture.

Day 2- Intermediate

This day is a continuation of favourite and effective points. Needle technique, angles, and location will be discussed and demonstrated. We will cover anatomical palpation and treatment based on anatomical correspondence. Needling demonstrations and treatments will round out the lecture.

Day 3- Advanced

This day is devoted to marching down the body from head to toe, covering all channels and strategies for treatment. Areas of focus are head, neck, upper back, chest, lumbar and hip. We will cover the advanced BodyMapping imaging of specific muscle relationships on the opposite side of the body, and the treatments from them. The afternoon will be divided into further exploration of muscle relationships, needle location and demonstration.

  • Bone and joint comparisons
  • Muscle, tendon and ligament comparisons
  • Strategies and point combinations for most used specific areas – channel and muscle diagnosis and treatment
  • Head strategies – headaches, facial pain, TMD, sinuses, tooth pain, trigeminal neuralgia, EENT
  • Neck strategies – whiplash, disk injuries, thoracic outlet
  • Chest strategies – chest pain, heart muscle, breast pain, rib pain, broken rib, shingles
  • Upper back strategies – scapular pain, subscapularis, levator scapula, trapezius, paraspinal
  • Lower back and hip strategies – lumbar strain, paraspinal pain, spinal pain, sciatica, SI joint, sacral and coccyx pain, iliopsoas, piriformis syndrome
  • Specific anatomical and muscle correspondence for most used specific areas
  • Iliopsoas, inguinal ligament, pubic tubercle
  • Piriformis, gluteus maximus, minimus, medius, TFL

About Dr. Cole Magbanua

Dr. Magbanua started learning holistic medicine in 1991. He studied with doctors from a variety of medical traditions including Chinese, Korean, Ayurvedic and Himalayan while travelling around the world.

He graduated from The Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in 1997. He has worked in a busy public health clinic, private practice, and volunteer clinics refining and using the Bodymapping Acupuncture Technique during the last 20 years.

He was faculty at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine for 6 years and served as Clinic Supervisor, Herbal Dispensary Manager, and Teaching Faculty, sharing his unique style of Acupuncture.

He holds a certificate in plant based nutrition from the Center for Nutrition Studies at Cornell University. He teaches seminars and gives lectures on Acupuncture, Chinese medicine, and nutrition
