SUMMARY:LIVE INTERACTIVE WEBINAR: Motor Point Acupuncture for Effective Treatment of Chronic Pain of the Upper Extremities with Rich Hazel and Dan Dominguez
DESCRIPTION:CAPACITY REACHED\nPlease Note: Numbers are strictly limited\nPRIVATE ZOOM LINK WILL BE SENT CLOSER TO THE DATE \nWEBINAR PROGRAM\nIntroduction to Chronic Pain of the Upper Extremities\nIn this webinar\, Rich and Dan will give you solid strategies that will work consistently for some of the toughest conditions to treat without acupuncture for overuse injuries in the upper extremity which can be some of the most chronic and debilitating injuries for people. This holds especially true for those who play sport or hold a job that requires repetitive movement that may cause strain injuries to the elbow\, wrist and fingers. Motor Point Acupuncture makes many of these issues melt away in very few sessions. \nFor many chronic issues people tend to seek more invasive treatments/surgical interventions for injuries that generally respond very well and often very quickly to motor point acupuncture. \nPatients feel the relief in minutes. \nWhen a joint or tendon in the elbow or wrist is causing pain it’s most likely due to muscle shortening in groups of muscles that flex or extend the wrist fingers or elbow. Unlike most injuries\, the forearm can be assessed based on palpation\, symptoms and an understanding of the actions and anatomy of the muscles which will be covered in this webinar. \nDan will be demonstrating some Neurofunctional approaches that stimulate the musculocutaneous nerve or the radial nerve septum using the pointer plus for certain conditions. Making sure you develop the skills and knowledge to nail Motor Point treatment consistently and reliably time after time again for this focus area\, so that patients will feel comfortable and confident sharing their results with colleagues and strangers to refer to your practice\, \nPeople of all ages can get these repetitive stress injuries from students to those who work long hours at a desk to tradesmen\, and the symptoms\, anatomy\, palpation and explanation of the following injuries (below) will be covered by Rich and Dan through theory and demonstration of needling technique. \nThe following dysfunctions will be covered:  \n\nTennis elbow\nGolfers elbow\nTriceps for the tennis and golfers\nOlecranon pain or bursitis\nBiceps tendonitis or injury coracobrachialis\nMusculocutaneous nerve (Neurofunctional)\nDe quervains tenosynovitis\nTrigger finger strategy\nCubital tunnel\nCarpal tunnel\nRadial nerve septum (Neurofunctional)\nTexters thumb\nTFCC tear\n\nIf you struggle with treating any or all of these issues\, join us. This is a MUST SEE WEBINAR! \nIn their usual style\, Rich and Dan never hold back on any tips or tricks that they have learnt over their years in clinical practice. They want you to be successful so more people will value acupuncture as the first line approach for most musculoskeletal issues. \n \n \n  \nVideo Demonstrations Included within:\nElectric Stimulation Protocols\nFrequency and tx times \nDetails\nDate: Sunday\, 14th of November 2021\nTime: 10am – 1.15pm\nCPD: 3 CPD points\nVENUE: LIVE ONLINE COURSE- ZOOM LINK WILL BE PROVIDED CLOSER TO THE DATE \nEarly Bird Pricing– $199 (Ends 01/11/2021)\nNormal Pricing: $210 \nThis is a live webinar conducted via the ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING Platform. \nDisclaimer before registering for the Live Webinar\nPlease check the relevant date/time zone to your location in accordance with the date and time provided above. SUMMARY:LIVE INTERACTIVE WEBINAR: The Underlying Theory behind Master Tung Point Selection: Why\, What\, When and How you use specific points with Brad Whisnant
DESCRIPTION:BOOKED OUT \nIntroduction\nJoin us for a this Live Interactive Webinar on The Underlying Theory behind Master Tung Point Selection: Why\, What\, When and How You Use Specific Points with Brad Whisnant. \nThe hardest and most frustrating thing is when we hope and pray what needle choice\, we picked helps our patient.  Over the years I have witnessed acupuncturists desperation as they choose points based on the “back of the book” or from some random page in their seminar notes. \nMaster Tung acupuncture does NOT have to be complicated nor frustrating. \nThis seminar is about the consistent reliable and predicable results and theory while practicing master Tung points in your clinic.  If the theory is correct? \nThe point choice is simple.\nThe results are exemplary.\nYour patients will be excited.\nAnd your clinic will be a clinic of patients improving and getting amazing medical outcomes. \nThis is the Master Tung method. Are you ready to re-consolidate the theory you know while taking your knowledge up a notch? \nThis webinar includes 4 hours focused on lessons with a “open” 1 Hour Q&A section at the very end with Brad\, answering all the questions you have been itching to have answered. \nAbout the Brad:  \nBrad Whisnant is a licensed acupuncturist and certified medicinal herbalist. He is a native of Oregon\, graduating from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and later from Emperors College with his DAOM. Dr. Whisnant is a talented practitioner and an avid student of Dr. Jimmy Chang\, Dr. Richard Tan\, and Dr. Wei Chieh Young. \nDr. Whisnant brings 3\,000 years of Chinese medicine into the present by incorporating modern research and clinical relevance in his treatment strategies. He has run volunteer clinics in Vietnam\, Honduras\, India and America. Treating over 150 patients per day enabled him to apply distal acupuncture methods and determine which method is most effective. He teaches a unique blend of the Balance Method and Master Tung acupuncture theories. His goal is to take acupuncture theories out of the textbook and into the clinic\, and prove what works.\nHe has written a series of books on Tung and distal acupuncture. The books are a combination of theory and case studies. To ensure that these techniques are accessible\, the point images are included in each case study. \n\nProgram Outline\nPart 1\nIntro to Master Tung: \nTHE BIG 5- Who\, What\, Where\, When and Why\nNomenclature of Master Tung points\nQuick overview of the numbering system \nPart 2\nNerve reaction area idea\nConcept of the 5 Zang\nUnderstanding Channel relationships\nDr. Tan idea folded over to Master Tung\, what channel relationships are the best\nConcept of the Image and the Mirror\nWhat images are best and which are not appropriate under what/which circumstances.  \nPart 3\nUsing the Tung system for Clinical success: \nHow we do this\nWhy we do this\nUnderstanding the 3-4 limb concept \nPart 4\nHow to structure treatment plans with your patients for clinical success\nHow to get away from being neurotic about immediate patient outcomes and why this is important\nCommunicating how and why the Tung points work to your patients\nEducating your patients for more informed patients and a smoother journey\nWorking through some basic treatment plans and treatment strategies for clinical success \nQ&A Session\nOpen 1 hour Q&A Session with Brad Whisnant \nNow is the time to ask all the burning questions you may have had about the MT system\, any questions you may have noted down during the lecture or your particular understanding. Unearthing Blindspots. \n \nMax 50 attendee limit for this online course to ensure quality of content delivery\, higher presenter engagement and to enable Q&A in the allocated time. \n\nWebinar Details\nDate:  Sunday\, 15th of August 2021 (AEST/Sydney\, Melbourne\, Canberra Time)\nTime: 8.30AM- 1.30PM\nTotal Hours:  5 hours (covers 4 hours content\, 1 hour Q&A)\nCPD Points: 5 hours\nMax Participants: 50\nZOOM INVITE LINK WILL BE PROVIDED VIA EMAIL CLOSER TO THE DATE\n\nPre-sale of Recording\nAvailable to view from the early September 2021\nPre-Purchase the webinar Recording for $199 (CLICK HERE) \nPricing\n\nPractitioner – AUD $260\nStudent – AUD $220\n\n  \nThis is a live webinar conducted via the ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING/MEETING Platform\, this webinar will also be available as a recording approximately 1-2 weeks after live webinar has concluded.\nWe expect students who wish to attend the Live webinar to be somewhat familiar with the process of zoom meetings and/or other video conferencing software. \nBOOKED OUT

SUMMARY:On Treating Pain: Clinical Applications of Chinese Herbal Medicine Patents - Dr Shu Wang
DESCRIPTION:Please note: BOOKED OUT. Please contact us to be put on a waiting list\nPain Management\nIn Australia\, pain is generally the most common and foremost reason for patients to seek healthcare from a TCM practitioner. \nThe use of Chinese herbal medicine patents is a modality which is often overlooked in favour of acupuncture; however\, herbs reap some of the clinical outcomes as a standalone therapy or combined with acupuncture. \nIf the presenting pain is addressed\, the treatment outcome will be classified as much more successful. With pain syndromes\, it is relatively easy to arrive at a differential diagnosis once you know the signs to look out for – as a result of this\, types of pain will be much easier to treat\, resulting in higher efficacy with rapid clinical results. \nIn this seminar\, Dr Shu Wang will be disseminating his prescription methodology along with pearls of wisdom from decades-long experiences in clinical practise\, with a clear focus on the treatment of various pain syndromes using easy to prescribe herbal patents for higher patient compliance. \nWhat You Will Learn\nThe principles of Chinese Herbal Medicine treatment are solely focused on administration of herbs through syndrome differentiation which greatly differs from the principles of Western Medicine. Therefore the first rule of prescription is differential diagnosis. Outlined are the Chinese Medicine syndromes with their Western medicine counterparts which will be discussed in the seminar. \n\nBlood stasis Bi syndrome (sports injury\, sciatica\, dysmenorrhea\, migraine\, endometriosis\, Lyme disease\, etc.)\nLiver and kidney deficiency syndrome (degenerative osteoarthritis OA\, bone spur hyperplasia\, baker’s cyst of knee arthritis\, bursitis\, frozen shoulder\, tennis elbow\, etc.)\nLiver Qi stagnation syndrome (fibromyalgia\, premenstrual tension syndrome\, phantom limb pain\, menopausal pain indeterminate disease…)\nLiver fire syndrome (trigeminal neuralgia\, wind-heat/fire blazing toothache\, migraine\, otitis media\, herpes zoster\, etc.)\nSpleen and kidney yang deficiency syndrome (CFS\, rheumatic joint pain\, rheumatoid arthritis\, etc)\nPhlegm turbidity syndrome (gout arthritis\, tenosynovitis cyst\, periodontitis swelling and pain\, etc.)\nInflammation resulting from heat toxins (diverticulitis\, cystitis\, prostatitis\, sinusitis)\n\nDetails\nDate: Sunday 25th October 2020 \nTime: 9:30am – 5:00pm \nCPD: 6 Points \nVenue: SITCM\, 25-29 Dixon St\, Haymarket NSW 2000 \nPricing: \n\nPractitioner – $195\nStudent – FREE. The big ideas underlie the fundamental physiological and pathological concepts of Chinese medicine\, and we will examine them in some detail\, from the starting point of a formula or formula family that represents and reflects the idea \nSession 1: 22nd March 2020\nXiao Chai Hu Tang\nXiao Chai Hu Tang is one of the foundation formulas of the Shang Han Lun\, and certainly one of the most widely used of all Chinese herbal prescriptions. Originally developed to deal with shao yang syndrome\, the post acute phase of an external invasion\, its use has expanded substantially over the intervening centuries and is a ‘go-to’ formula for many conditions beyond its orginal purpose. Why\, and on what basis\, has this occured? We will look at the reasons for this expansion and look at the structure of the formula and its relatives in the harmonising family. \nBan Xia Xie Xin Tang\nA strikingly effective formula for a variety of common digestive complaints\, Ban Xia Xie Xin Tang works its magic primarily by stimulating and driving th emiddle burner qi dynamic. SUMMARY:The Confluence of Nature and Nurture in Classical Chinese Medicine - Luo Vessels: Blood and Spirit (MELBOURNE ONLY) - Sean Tuten
DESCRIPTION:Classical Acupuncture is based on the teachings in the Classical texts of Chinese Medicine. Most of these texts were written between the the 6th century BC (the Warring States period) and the end of the Tang dynasty in the 10th century CE. Along with the Primary Meridians common to all acupuncture systems\, a key feature of the Classical texts is the description and discussion of meridians called the Complement Channels. \nIn two separate seminars\, Sean Tuten will explore the use of the Extraordinary and Luo vessels in a clinical setting. These are the foundation courses working in collaboration with Ann Cecil-Sterman’s future advanced courses. \nLuo Vessels (MELBOURNE ONLY)\nLuo Vessels are repositories for unprocessed or overwhelming emotions imprinted on the blood. In this way\, chronic\, traumatic\, or repetitive emotional injuries are stored outside of the primary channels (i.e. consciousness) until the body is ready to process and release the emotion. Thus the Luo vessels are considered essential in the treatment of mental health issues. \nWhat You Will Explore\n\nThe Longitudinal Luo Vessels act as the repositories of overwhelming emotional experiences.\nTransverse Luo Vessels act as a system of triage to protect Zang-Fu organs from damage.\nThe trajectories\, diagnosis\, and treatment protocols for the Longitudinal and Transverse Luo Vessels\nVisual diagnosis of Luo Vessels\nFilling versus Emptying Luo Vessels\, the clinical implications and treatment techniques.\nThe most effective way to treat inflammation of the organs using Transverse Luo Vessels\nHow environmental factors affect DNA and how to reverse environmental damage at the cellular level\n\nDay 3 will involve live patients where participants will apply the theory and techniques learnt in this seminar\, under the guidance of Sean Tuten. \nDetails\nDate: \n22-24th November 2019 \nTime: \n9:00am – 5:00pm each day \nCPD: \n19.5 points \nPricing:  \n\nPractitioner Early Bird (expiring 11th October 2019): $745\nPractitioner: $645\nStudent Early Bird (expiring 12th October 2019): $845\nStudent: $745\n\nIncludes morning & afternoon tea and notes \n*Cancellations: Registrations cancelled up to 1-week prior to seminar will be refunded less 20%. We regret that refunds are not otherwise possible. \nAbout Sean Tuten\nSean Tuten teaches these seminars in an ongoing collaboration with Ann Cecil-Sterman\, and has lectured on Acupuncture and Chinese Herbalism throughout the U.S. and Europe since 2004. In 2000 he co-founded the Village Health Project\, a non-profit organisation that applied Chinese medicine to HIV/AIDS relief in southern Africa\, running the project for 8 years. \nHe has designed proprietary herbal formulations for Golden Flower Chinese Herbs\, a large international producer and distributor of herbal patent medicines. \nIn 2016\, Dr. Tuten founded the Classical Acupuncture Mentorship\, a comprehensive didactic & clinical training program in the complement channels of classical acupuncture. He served as a professor for many years at the Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe\, New Mexico\, and currently maintains private practices in New Mexico and Rhode Island. \nPlease contact China Books Melbourne for bookings and enquiries\n03 9663 8822\ninfo@chinabooks.com.au

SUMMARY:Dermatology in Chinese Medicine & Ulcerative Colitis: Clinical Perspectives - Mazin Al-Khafaji
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nDays 1 & 2 – Dermatology in Chinese Medicine\nSkin disorders in their various forms are amongst the most common diseases suffered by mankind\, accounting for no less than 20% of all visits to out-patient’s departments in the Western world. Despite this prevalence and the resources put into this field\, many patients are dissatisfied with the conventional treatments available to them\, and look elsewhere for solutions. \nChinese herbal medicine has a very real and enduring answer for a significant number of sufferers of many diseases of the skin. It can induce spectacular and lasting change in a whole range of intractable conditions such as eczema\, acne and psoriasis\, and yet due to a lack of specialist training and clinical experience\, numerous practitioners of Chinese medicine fail to achieve optimal results that are well within their grasp. \nIn this introductory two-day lecture\, the fundamental principles of treating the commonest skin diseases will be presented (Damp-Heat\, Blood-Heat\, Blood-Stasis\, and Qi\, Blood & Yin Xu) using many case examples with numerous photographic slides from Mazin’s own practice. Throughout the emphasis is put on practical and clinically relevant information\, which will serve as a foundation to enable doctors to understand the essential concepts required to construct effective formulae to suit the vagaries of clinical reality. \nThe workshop will commence with an overview of all the major primary and secondary lesions of the skin and their significance in Chinese medicine. The commonest diseases encountered in clinical practice will be introduced along with their major variants. Case examples will be given with before\, during and after pictures alongside the formulae that were used\, charting in great detail the approach that ultimately proved successful in leading the patient from acute phase to stable state. \nWhat You Will Learn\n\nMajor primary and secondary lesions of the skin and their significance in Chinese medicine\nThe Eight methods for Resolving Heat.\nMazin’s own classification of the primary protocols for treating Inflammatory Skin Disease.\nThe commonest diseases encountered in clinical practice will be introduced along with their major variants (including Plaque\, Pustular & Erythrodermic Psoriasis\, Atopic Eczema\, Pompholyx Eczema\, Nummular Eczema\, Seborrhoeic Dermatitis\, Lichen Simplex\, Lichen Planus\, Acne\, and Rosacea).\nNumerous in-depth case examples of these conditions will be given with before\, during and after pictures alongside the formulae that were used\, charting in great detail the approach that ultimately proved successful in leading the patient from acute phase to stable state.\n\nDay 3 – Ulcerative Colitis\nUlcerative colitis is a common\, chronic relapsing inflammatory disease of the colon and rectum characterized by abdominal pain\, tenesmus\, with accompanying diarrhoea mixed with blood\, mucus and pus. Traditional Chinese medicine has recognized this condition for millennia\, where it has been known by various names\, including Dysenteric disorder (lì jí 痢疾) and Zang toxin (zàng dú 藏毒). \nConventional medicine has relied on surgery\, as well as increasingly potent immunosuppressive pharmaceuticals\, and more recently biologics\, to control the aberrant immune system that is the root of this disorder. With all the associated shortcomings of these modes of therapy\, in Mazin’s 30 years of experience he has found Chinese herbal medicine offers a remarkably powerful and effective answer\, not only for the distressing acute flares that sufferers of this condition are susceptible to\, but to long-term management and stabilisation\, with prolonged remission a reality for the majority of patients. \nThis lecture will describe the common as well as rare manifestations of this disease\, and will discuss in great detail the effective approaches (internal medicine\, herbal enemas and suppositories) that are available to us for successfully treating all stages of this disorder. Several case examples will also be presented to highlight the variants that are encountered in clinical practice and how to approach them. \nDetails\nDates\n\n24-26th May 2019\n\nCPD Points\n\n21 CPD Points – all days\n13 CPD Points – days 1 and 2 only\n7 CPD Points – day 3 only\n\nPricing\n\nPractitioner Early Bird (expiring 26th April 2019): $795\nPractitioner: $880\nStudent Early Bird (expiring 26th April 2019): $695\nStudent: $795\nDermatology Only (24-25th May): $595\nUlcerative Colitis Only (26th May): $310\n\nIncludes morning & afternoon tea and notes \n*Cancellations: Registrations cancelled up to 1-week prior to seminar will be refunded less 20%. SUMMARY:Neoclassical Pulse Diagnosis: Extraordinary Vessels & The Six Channels - Foundations & Advanced with Thomas Richardson
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nNeoclassical Pulse Diagnosis is a powerful system of pulse diagnosis that is deeply rooted in the classics (especially the Mai Jing). This method was developed by Dr. William Morris and it is a systematic integration of classical anatomical approach to pulse taking along with channel-based methods of assessment. \nNeoclassical Pulse Diagnosis is based on an understanding of complementary positions and spatial correlations of the individual pulse positions. It allows one to diagnose channel involvements (Extraordinary Vessels\, 6-channel) as well as various temporal cycles (Ying Qi and Wei Qi cycles) and five-element imbalances. Some have called it an ‘acupuncturist’s pulse diagnosis\,’ as it can accurately diagnose channel imbalances. Once proficient in this system\, the pulse can guide one immediately to a specific acupuncture point that will not only bring balance to the pulse\, but also instantly shift the patient’s experience—whether by decreasing pain\, increasing range of motion\, changing their internal state of consciousness\, or bringing about other noticeable shifts. \nWhat You Will Learn\nFoundations Workshop\nIn this 2-day seminar\, practitioners will learn and practice pulse diagnosis methods that identify involvements of the eight extraordinary vessels and the six channels\, as well as the Compass Method for finding five-element imbalances with the organs. \n\nThese vessels share all functions of the kidneys\, which includes the endocrine system\, hematopoietic system\, central nervous system\, reproductive system\, and the urinary tract. This broad-reaching set of influences can be called ‘trans-systemic’.\nThey also influence the vascular system\, digestive system and respiratory tract\, as well as the musculo-skeletal system.\nThe most prominent feature that indicates this diagnostic method is an overwhelming event or trauma\, even if in the past\, and particularly when related to the current presentation.\n\nAdvanced Workshop*\nBuilding on the knowledge and the techniques introduced in the Foundations workshop. Practitioners will progress and advance their knowledge of Neoclassical Pulse Diagnosis. \n\nHow to identify and treat blockages in the Ying Qi and Wei Qi cycle.\n\nThese methods are clinically useful for addressing insomnia and sleep issues\, allergies and Wei Qi issues\, as well as pain that comes and goes throughout the day or night. \n* Attendees must complete the foundations workshop before attending the advanced course \nDetails\nDates\n\nFOUNDATIONS: 9th – 10th March 2019\nADVANCED: 16 – 17th March 2019\n\nCPD Points\n\n13 CPD Points each seminar\n\nPricing\n\nPractitioner Early Bird (extended to 11th Feb 2019): $495 ea workshop\nPractitioner: $545\nStudent Early Bird (extended to 11th Feb 2019): $445 ea workshop\nStudent: $495\nCombined Practitioner (extended to 11th Feb 2019): $890\nCombined Student (extended to 11th Feb 2019): $790\n\nIncludes morning & afternoon tea and notes \n*Cancellations: Registrations cancelled up to 1-week prior to seminar will be refunded less 20%.
