Ding Jiwan (grandson of Ding Ganren of Wen Bing fame) taught this method to Dr. Shen in Shanghai and then Hong Kong during the turbulent years of 1937-1942. Dr. Shen as the sole survivor of World War 2 with knowledge of the pulse method\, fled the Communist Revolution in China for the USA. \nDr. Hammer\, a renowned practitioner\, first encountered Dr. Shen’s exceptional diagnostic skills in a Chinatown clinic in New York City during the early 1970s. This serendipitous meeting led to an eight-year apprenticeship for Dr. Hammer under Dr. Shen’s guidance\, and their collaboration spanned thirty years\, during which they recorded and refined the Menghe pulse method. \nThe Shen-Hammer Pulse method has evolved from Classical Chinese medicine theory. It recognizes that the range of energy transformations within a human body reflects the infinite combination of spatial and temporal energy possibilities in the macrocosm. The pulse carries information encoded within it\, representing the physiological exchanges specific to that individual organism. \nPalpating the radial artery allows us to decipher these exchanges and provides rich and extensive diagnostic information. The pulse describes the inherited life of a person\, their current state of being\, and can indicate possible health trajectories for the future. \nOnce the information encoded in the pulse is deciphered\, it guides the practitioner to skilfully implement management strategies. These strategies may include acupuncture\, Chinese herbs\, and lifestyle modifications to positively impact the physical and psycho-emotional potential of the clients. \nThe Shen-Hammer Pulse method is a refined and comprehensive approach to pulse diagnosis that draws upon ancient Chinese medicine theory. It allows practitioners to gain valuable insights into their clients’ health and guide them towards appropriate treatment strategies to enhance their well-being. \n  \n\n             \n\n\n\nAbout Dr. Karen Bilton (PhD)\nKaren started her career in healthcare as a physiotherapist. She has been practising acupuncture and Chinese medicine for 28 years and is licensed to practise in Australia and the USA. Having worked in the USA for 15 years she has been studying with Dr Leon Hammer\, MD since 1997. She completed doctoral studies evaluating the reliability of practitioners applying Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis clinically. Karen is one of a handful of people who inherited this pulse method and model of developmental psychological model directly from Dr Hammer. \nShe is co-author of a Handbook of Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis; taught Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis classes as well as presented at conferences in China\, USA\, Australia\, and New Zealand; and has published her work in peer review journals. Karen having lectured at respected institutions like Pacific College of Oriental Medicine\, New York City; the University of Technology\, Sydney; and the University of Western Sydney; is further testament to her academic excellence and contribution to Chinese medicine. \nCurrently she is in clinical practice in Sydney\, Australia\, and continues her exploration of acupuncture\, Chinese herbal medicine in relation to Daoist cosmology.  She endeavours to share her knowledge teaching classes in pulse diagnosis and the psychology of Dragon Rises\, Red Bird Flies. \n\n\n\n  \nDetails\n\nDates: Friday 15th September – Monday 18th September\, 2023\nTime: 8.30am – 5.30pm\nLocation: College of Complementary Medicine – Level 6/128-134 Chalmers Street\, Surry Hills\, NSW\, 2010\, Opposite Central Railway Station\nPricing:\n\nDeposit: $200* (incl. SUMMARY:LIVE ZOOM WEBINAR: Using Chinese Medicine/East Asian Medicine to address Intergenerational Trauma with CT Holman
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nPresenting CT Holman\, author of Treating Emotional Trauma with Chinese Medicine: Integrated Diagnostic and Treatment Strategies\n\n\nRegister Now\nWebinar Description\nUsing Chinese Medicine/East Asian Medicine to address Intergenerational Trauma with CT Holman\nTrauma victims can pass on their trauma genetically. By clearing trauma and reducing the charge of a particular belief system\, it is possible to prevent passing the trauma on to future generations.  Western medical research in epigenetics has shown that memories and traumatic experiences can be transferred up to five generations. In Chinese medicine\, the Jing contains the genetic information\, and this can be passed on to succeeding generations.  \nAttitudes\, personality\, emotional make-up\, and belief systems are all part of the Jing that is inherited. Strengths and imbalances are passed on. The imbalances can be corrected with Chinese medicine to prevent them from continuing in a patient’s offspring. In addition\, Chinese medicine can clear the old traumas so they are not passed on to subsequent generations. \nCT Holman will discuss ways to diagnose and treat generational trauma by utilising Chinese medicine. He will demonstrate specific acupuncture point combinations and needle techniques. Several patient pictures and case studies will be included. \nUpon completing the course\, participants will be able to apply this knowledge in their clinic. \nLearning Objectives\n\nUnderstand how generational trauma is passed down to subsequent generations. \nLearn diagnostic techniques to determine if a patient’s physiology has been compromised by trauma.\nLearn point prescriptions and needle techniques to treat generational trauma.\n\n\nOutline: \n\nHour 1: Discuss generational trauma and how it is interpreted in Chinese medicine. Western medical research will be included. Discuss diagnostic techniques to determine trauma. Extensive explanations utilizing facial diagnosis will be included.\nHour 2: Discuss treatment principles and acupuncture prescriptions to treat intergenerational trauma.\nHour 3: Present case studies of treating trauma.\n\n\nAbout CT Holman\n \nCT Holman practices Chinese medicine in Salem\, Oregon. SUMMARY:LIVE ZOOM WEBINAR: Applying Facial Diagnosis to Identify the Root of Disease Patterns with CT Holman
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nPresenting CT Holman\, author of Treating Emotional Trauma with Chinese Medicine: Integrated Diagnostic and Treatment Strategies\n\n\nRegister Now\nWebinar Description\nApplying Facial Diagnosis to Identify the Root of Disease Patterns with CT Holman\nFacial features\, colors\, and markings provide a blueprint of the emotional and physical state of the body. Ancient Chinese facial diagnosis gives insight into a person’s constitution\, their emotional tendencies\, their disease patterns\, and their belief systems. \nCT Holman teaches the Lillian Pearl Bridges Facial Diagnosis lineage. In this applied facial diagnostic course\, CT explains how to detect the state of each organ system and a patient’s personality by reading the various colors and features on the face. By understanding the balance of the five elements seen on the face\, a thorough diagnosis is achieved. CT will show many patient pictures and discuss case studies to bring the diagnostic information to life. \nUpon completing the course\, participants will be able to apply this knowledge in their clinic. \nLearning Objectives\n\nUnderstand how the facial features of the face relate to the five elements and how to apply this knowledge in crafting acupuncture point prescriptions.\nUse the colors seen on the face to create acupuncture prescriptions.\nLearn point prescriptions for treating the various emotional\, behavioral\, and physical imbalances identified on the face.\n\n\nOutline: \n\nHour 1: Discuss the organ map of the face and explain which features relate to each organ. Discuss the various colors seen on the face and how they determine pathophysiology.\nHour 2: Discuss the emotional map in detail and how the various lines give clues into which organ spirits are affected. Provide acupuncture point prescriptions based on the lines seen on the face. Explain the difference between the left and right side of the face. Explain how to read the true nature of a person and help them understand their authentic spirit.\nHour 3: Discuss the three zones of the face and how to utilize this information to best communicate with patients and improve patient interactions. Discuss Peach Luck and how it helps diagnose the state of a person’s spirit. Explain how to differentiate the state of the organ spirits and understand the health of a person’s spirit.\nHour 4: Present several case studies of diagnosing and treating patients based on facial diagnosis. Provide several acupuncture prescriptions based on facial diagnostic findings.\n\n\nAbout CT Holman\n \nCT Holman practices Chinese medicine in Salem\, Oregon. His fulltime clinic was founded in 2001. CT wrote the textbooks: Treating Emotional Trauma with Chinese Medicine and Shamanism in Chinese Medicine both published by Singing Dragon. He teaches courses internationally\, operates a mentorship program\, and is the Director of Development for the Lotus Institute of Lillian Pearl Bridges. He studied in China (1999\, 2001\, and 2003) and has extensive post-graduate education with several leading teachers in the field. \nCT has taught in Sweden\, Germany\, Mexico\, Denmark\, Australia\, and the US. He teaches at the Oregon College of Chinese Medicine for its doctoral program\, mentors masters and doctoral students\, and has been published in the Journal of Chinese Medicine. CT utilises drumming with acupuncture treatments and has recently recorded and released a CD\, Resonating Vitality – Chinese Medicine Drum Treatments. \n\nDetails\n\nDate: Sunday\, 7th of May 2023\nTime: 9am – 1pm (AEST)\nPricing: $245 for Practitioners\, $210 for Students (FULL TIME Undergraduates)\nCPD: 4 CPD Points\nNotes: Included\nVENUE: LIVE ONLINE COURSE- ZOOM LINK WILL BE PROVIDED CLOSER TO THE DATE\n\n  \nRegister Now\nThis is a live webinar conducted via the ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING Platform.  \nDisclaimer before registering for the Live Webinar\nPlease check the relevant date/time zone to your location in accordance with the date and time provided above. SUMMARY:Channel Palpation and Diagnosis: An Exploration of Classical Acupuncture Techniques with Jason D. Robertson
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nCourse Outline\nChannel examination is a classical diagnostic technique not often taught in modern acupuncture schools. Emphasised in the earliest acupuncture texts (Nei Jing/Nan Jing)\, observation and palpation of the channels is extremely helpful for confirming diagnosis\, refining point selection and improving clinical results. This three-day class will focus on learning and applying channel diagnosis through interactive lectures and extensive hands-on practice of technique. In addition\, an exploration of channel-based physiology will be presented from the text Applied Channel Theory in Chinese Medicine (Eastland Press\, Seattle 2008). Students will leave with a greater understanding of classical physiology and diagnostic techniques for evaluating pathological patterns in both internal conditions and musculoskeletal complaints. \n  \nApplied Channel Theory\nApplied Channel Theory (jīng luò yī xué) is an approach to acupuncture rooted in the dual research threads of classical texts and modern clinical application. Developed by Dr. Wang Ju–Yi over 50 years in Beijing clinics\, hospitals and research institutes\, it involves the rigorous combination of theory and diagnostic technique. More precisely\, Applied Channel Theory requires that examination of acupuncture channels be considered in the broader context of other diagnostic tools. In addition to channel examination\, Applied Channel Theory is a comprehensive system that includes channel theory (channel qi transformation)\, channel differentiation\, channel selection\, the nature of acupuncture points\, point selection and location\, and various methods of channel regulation (like acupuncture\, moxibustion\, hand techniques\, cupping and so on). This lost art has been brought back to modern practice by Dr Wang’s teachings and introduced to the Western world through Jason Robertson’s best selling title Applied Channel Theory in Chinese medicine: Wang Ju-Yi’s Lectures on Channel Therapeutics. Attendees will be taught the fundamental techniques of channel examination\, palpation and diagnosis in this practical workshop. \n \n  \nWhat You Will Learn\n\nAn introduction to Applied Channel Theory (jīng luò yī xué). This will begin with an overview of the classical conception of the channels based on the life work of Beijing Professor Wang Ju-Yi. An understanding of the physical location and function of the channels will underpin our exploration of clinical strategy. This will include a discussion of physiology from the perspective of ‘channels’ as six subcategories of homeostasis.\nEach day will also include practice of channel examination. Hands-on demonstration and practice with feedback from the instructor will be extensive. Students will develop skills for gleaning diagnostic information from careful palpation of the distal channels. Much like tongue observation and pulse diagnosis\, channel examination can be crucial for determining patterns of disharmony (zhèng).\nBuilding on basic techniques\, discussions of channel-based physiological models will expand to include discussions of how pathology can manifest specific\, palpable changes on the acupuncture channels. Specific points will be considered including demonstrations of precise point location and discussions of common findings and their possible diagnostic significance.\n\n  \nAbout Jason D. Robertson\n \nDr. Jason D. Robertson (MS\, DAHM) is the coauthor of Applied Channel Theory in Chinese Medicine: Wang Ju-Yi’s Lectures on Channel Therapeutics (Eastland Press\, 2008) with his teacher Professor Wang Ju-Yi. Dr. Robertson has studied Chinese language for 30 years and Chinese medicine in Chengdu and Beijing. He currently maintains a private practice in Seattle\, WA and is a full-time faculty member at the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine (www. sieam.edu). Dr. Robertson has taught courses on channel theory and diagnosis around the world and has been recognized by the Beijing Administration of Chinese Medicine as an official apprentice of Wang Ju-Yi. More information about Applied Channel Theory\, including articles in both English and Chinese\, can be found at www.channelpalpation.org (look under the ‘media’ tab). \n  \nDetails\nDate: 31st March 2023 – 2nd April 2023\nTime: 9am – 5pm\nCPD: 19.5 CPD Points\nVenue: Rydges Darling Square – 72 Liverpool Street\, Sydney\, NSW\nNotes: Included \nEARLY BIRD SPECIAL (offer ends 10th March 2023)\nPractitioner Rate: $950\nStudent (Full Time – Undergraduate): $850 \nREGULAR PRICING\nPractitioner Rate: $1100\nStudent (Full Time – Undergraduate): $1050 \nTerms and Conditions\n*Registrations cancelled up to one week prior to the seminar will be refunded less 20%. SUMMARY:3 Day Intensive-Facial Acupuncture Certification: Practical Applications of Anti-Aging Facial Acupuncture with Michelle Gellis (Bonus microneedling course)
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\n3 Day Live Facial Needling Workshop (WITH BONUS MICRONEEDLING WORKSHOP ON LAST DAY) – SOLD OUT\nPrerequisite for attending microneedling proponent of class (Duration: 1.5 hours): Prerequisite 4 hour Practitioner Training available free with the Aculift Micropen System – purchase here\n \n\nTestimonial\n\n“Michelle’s last course on using Motor Points to treat expressions lines was so engaging and I learnt so much in 5 hours. I thought I wouldn’t be able to apply it instantly with a zoom webinar but Michelle made it very clear how and why to use certain muscle motor points\, where and when to apply them with video demos on tricky points. She simplified the expressions of the face diagnostically and I was able to immediately apply what I learnt in clinic the next day and get immediate effects- By far one of the best webinars I have ever done!” \n– AC\n\nMichelle Gellis is one of a select group of acupuncturists who not only performs the ancient art of facial acupuncture\, she also teaches acupuncture facial rejuvenation classes to acupuncturists across the nation. \nFacial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a centuries old practice. It is a gentle\, effective\, and safe way to combat the signs of aging and erase years from your face without the risk or downtime of surgery or injections. Acupuncture offers many benefits to those who want to revitalize the look and feel of their skin. It builds collagen\, tones muscles\, improves circulation\, and stimulates blood flow with no risk of scars\, infections\, rashes\, or toxic build-up of chemicals. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is much more than a cosmetic procedure. Acupuncture changes the energy flow within the body and initiates the process for constitutional rejuvenation. If energy is not flowing freely throughout your body then your organs\, muscles and lymphatic system cannot function properly\, which can contribute to puffiness\, bags and premature aging. \nChinese medicine is based on the principle that health is manifested from the inside out. Using this Holistic approach\, not only do your frown lines disappear\, you feel better overall\, sleep better\, have more energy and better digestion. As you age\, the 57 muscles in your face gradually lose their tone and mass. Loss of tone and mass causes the sagging\, deep wrinkling and tired look associated with aging. SUMMARY:1 Day Workshop: 5 Element Archetypes and Acupuncture Point Combinations with David Hartmann
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nPresenting our homegrown favourite!\nDavid Hartmann\, author of “The Principles and Practical Application of Acupuncture Point Combinations” and “Acupoint Dictionary 2e”.\n \nPractitioner Testimonial\n\n“Incredible teacher that makes understanding difficult concepts easier and fun! fundamental or advanced concepts together are just easy to learn and understand with David! A Fascinating and in-depth learning approach with an amazing teacher! Thankyou David! ”                          – EB (TCM Practitioner)\n\nRegister Now\n\nSeminar Description:\nIf you were asked to describe yourself in one word\, what would it be? Would you say you were an Adventurer? What about a Magician? Perhaps a Saviour? An Alchemist? Or maybe a Philosopher? \nWelcome to the fascinating world of Five Element Archetypes. Within this archetype system there are five different personality types. One of them will be your ‘Guardian’ or dominant archetype; there will be a second that is your ‘Support-Act’ archetype\, and you will be a small part of the remaining three. \nThese archetypes are not the only system to think about when you are trying to understand people. The Five Spirits (Wǔ Shén) are also an important consideration\, because they help further dissect complex individuals. And whilst there is an argument that your archetype doesn’t change in your life (Nature versus Nurture not withstanding)\, the Five Spirits can change daily\, hourly\, or even as you are sitting there reading this course description. \nThe value of understanding\, and implementing\, the Five Element Archetypes and Five Spirits\, into your clinic cannot be understated. They give you a greater insight into your patient’s personality – how they operate in their worlds; how they tick! This also aids you in the treatment of your patient’s emotional turmoil\, stress\, and mental health. \nEach of the Five Element Archetypes will be thoroughly discussed\, along with acupuncture point combination treatments provided. SUMMARY:1 Day Workshop: Numerology and Acupuncture Point Combinations with David Hartmann
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nPresenting our homegrown favourite!\nDavid Hartmann\, author of “The Principles and Practical Application of Acupuncture Point Combinations” and “Acupoint Dictionary 2e”.\n  \n \nPractitioner Testimonial\n\n“Incredible teacher that makes understanding difficult concepts easier and fun! fundamental or advanced concepts together are just easy to learn and understand with David! A Fascinating and in-depth learning approach with an amazing teacher! Thankyou David! ”                               – EB (TCM Practitioner)\n\nRegister Now\n\nSeminar Description:\nOn the surface\, it might seem like numerology and Chinese medicine have nothing in common\, but this assumption is wide of the mark. It is accurate to say that numerology was created in Greece whereas\, China created Chinese medicine. It is also accurate to say that Greece and China had little\, or nothing\, to do with one another when numerology was created\, in the middle 500’s BCE. \nChinese medicine and philosophy\, as you probably know\, involves a lot of numbers. The Three Powers\, Four Levels\, Five Elements\, Six Divisions\, Seven Emotions\, are just some of the myriads of systems in Chinese medicine that use numbers to define them. \nNumerology does likewise as it attempts to explain each person’s archetype. For the most part there are 9 numbers in this archetype system. Of these 9 numerology numbers\, there are ‘Ruling’ or ‘LifePath’ numbers. There are ‘Personal Year’ numbers; and the numbers of your date of birth can also provide you with the ‘Arrows of Pythagoras’. What is interesting here\, is that a lot of these numbers point towards a relationship with the Chinese medicine organ system. That being the case\, you can use specific acupuncture point combinations to treat a patient within their numerology numbers and arrows. \nIf you are interested in learning archetype systems that can help you understand your patients more\, then this is the workshop for you. Even more exciting is the fact that once you know these archetype systems you can learn more about anyone – yourself\, friends\, family – even your enemies. \nPerhaps even more incredible is that you are given dozens of acupuncture point combinations that can be applied in your clinic immediately. \nSo\, join us for this fascinating workshop that will almost certainly change the life of your patients\, yourself and the people close to you. \n\n NOTE: \n• Participants are provided with additional numerology material (beyond the PowerPoint slides) to help with analysing\, assessing\, and diagnosing. \n• Bonus article on ‘Numerology and the 27 Club’ for the first ten participants to book. \n\nNumerology Workshop Themes/Topics Discussed:\n\n\n\nA brief history of the Numerology Archetype system.\n‘Ruling/Life Path’ numbers.\n‘Personal Year’ numbers.\n‘Arrows of Pythagoras’.\nAcupuncture Point Combinations used to treat.\n\n\n\n\n  \n\nSchedule\nSATURDAY: 9.30am-5.30pm \n9.30am-11am –Part 1 – Theory and Background \n\nIntroduction of background and workshop content\nReview numerology – generally and historically.\nAnalyse each of the ‘Ruling/Life Path’ number archetypes. SUMMARY:FOOD AS MEDICINE SERIES: Applying Chinese Dietetic Therapy in Practice (Advanced) with Deirdre Courtney
DESCRIPTION:Presenting Deirdre Courtney\, TCM Practitioner\, Chef\, Lecturer and Author of the best seller “Nourishing Life the Yang Sheng Way: Nutrition and Lifestyle Advice from Chinese Medicine” for our first ever Foundations Lecture. Learn how to recommend food appropriately during treatment to help sustain long term change!\n\n\n\nRegister Now\nWebinar Description\nApplying Chinese Dietetic Therapy in Practice (Advanced) \nOne of the most important things you can do for your patients is to educate them about self-care and preventative medicine particularly with a notion on how to manage their TCM patterns for more positive and sustainable clinical outcomes. Food is one area where many patients may struggle with\, where they do not understand how to eat for their condition or underlying pattern and it may not always be tonification\, oftentimes TCM Practitioners should be looking at prescribing foods as medicine in a reduction\, clearing and harmonizing capacity in the same way that we would prescribe herbs. \nIn addition\, diet is one of the hardest things to change within someone’s lifestyle. How do we look to enact longterm and sustainable change within our patients for maximum effectiveness? \nIn Part 2 (Advanced) we will go deeper into how we can apply these principles in modern life\, and the best ways to help support out patients and not overwhelm them.  \nThis course will dive deeper into how to construct recipes\, in similar ways to constructing prescriptions along with more advanced patient management principles for diet. As TCM Practitioners we are and should be allowed to prescribe foods with an understanding of the underlying pattern\, we have the foundations to do so as long as we understand the basic principles and theories of what we are prescribing and not just prescribing “shot gun” style. You will also be able to better and more confidently practice within your clinical scope of TCM dietary recommendation after taking both courses. \nThis is why we would highly recommend that all participants interested in taking this course\, first visit and complete the foundations course as this advanced course is where we build on the previous knowledge and give TCM Practitioners and students alike the tools to heal with one of the biggest tools at our disposal. Food as Medicine. \nThis suggestion is predicated on the fact that this advanced course is an extension of the foundational course which is a four hour lecture of our Food as Medicine Series. This is highly recommended but (not a prerequisite) that registrants complete the foundations course first before doing the Advanced course to get the most out of this course content. \nClick here for the Foundations Course Outline \n\n\nWebinar Outline\n\n\n\nIntroduction and Theory on Application of TCM Nutrition and Dietetics\n– Assessment of a Patient’s Diagnosis and Dietary Requirements in accordance with TCM Principles:\n– We will look at ways to work with your patients diets that best suits them- Patient management aspect\n\n\nTheory:\n– Understanding Certain Foods as Medicine and What Medicines are actually Foods as well\n– How and why we apply food prescriptions in Clinical Practice\nClinical Application:\n– How to build TCM-based Recipes: Selecting individual herbs/foods that can be added to stocks\, congees and soups to support health and recovery from certain illnesses.\nTCM Dietetic Modification Principles:\n– Adding different types of foods to help blood\, Qi\, Kidney Jing\, Clear Heat\, Drain Damp and Warm Cold etc.\nClinical Application:\nProviding Rationale and Recipes for:\n– Morning Sickness\n– Canker Sores\n– High Blood Pressure/Hypertension\n– Constipation\n– Parasites\n– Boosting Immunity\nDiscussion and review – Summary with tie up from prior knowledge (Foundations and Advanced Content)\n(Q&A Section) \n\n\n\nRenowned Chinese Medicine Practitioner and qualified chef Deirdre Courtney as well as author of “Nourishing Life the Yang Sheng Way: Nutrition and Lifestyle Advice from Chinese Medicine“ will take us through the fascinating Part 2 (Advanced) of our Food As Medicine Series with Chinese Medicine Education\, with a view to have a live lecture/workshop and cooking class next year\, centering around women’s health\, pregnancy and postpartum theories and traditional recipes. \nIt is highly recommended that those who are interested in attending her (potential) live workshop next year\, complete her two foundation and advanced webinars first. \nPrerequisites and Recommendations:\nIt is highly recommended that those who are interested in attending her (potential) live workshop next year\, complete her two foundation and advanced webinars first.\n– Students of Traditional Chinese Medicine (2nd year knowledge minimum)\n– TCM Practitioners who are legally allowed to practice within their jurisdiction with a minimum of 200 hours of clinical practice and foundational theory of the substances and patterns \n\nAbout Deirdre Courtney\n \nDeirdre Courtney is an internationally known lecturer and teacher specialising in Yang Sheng; Chinese Nutrition; Herbs; Facial Diagnosis; Face Reading; Working with Spirit Points and the Emotions. But that is only half of what defines the length of our individual lives. It is also necessary to take into account individual lifestyle choices\, habits\, and environmental factors that influence our post-natal jing or essence. These impacts speedup or slowdown\, increase or decrease our wakeful years. \nThe Difficult Issues (Nan Jing)\, a classical Chinese medicine text\, provides an essential clue to longevity and explains how external and internal factors affect our kidneys and influence lifespan. It explains how if health is not properly maintained that the kidney will be cut off from receiving and exchanging qi from the other zangfu organs\, leading to its depletion. This decline leads to inevitable yin-yang disruption\, directly affects the flow of qi and blood\, and the eventual weakening of the zangfu organs and their ability to generate qi to support our body. \nOur lecture highlights key patho-mechanisms set into motion by this kidney disconnection and the foreseeable impact on the aging process. Geriatrics is its own separate category and specialty focused on retirement and elderly aged people. It’s necessary to make the distinction between the patho-mechanisms during the aging process versus during old-age. The prime aim of our discussion is to identify key clinical signs so practitioners are able to respond appropriately with key acupuncture strategies and classical herbal formulas\, hopefully correcting patient imbalances\, and supporting long life. \nCourse Outline: \nHour 1-2:\nChinese medicine theory: Longevity and the aging process\nChinese medicine patho-mechanisms: Based on The Difficult Issues (Nan Jing)\nChinese medicine patho-mechanisms: Based on geriatrics \nHour 3-4:\nChinese medicine treatment principles: Acupuncture strategies & classical herbal formulas\nCase study\nQuestion & Answer \nAbout Brian Grosam (PhD)\n\n\nDr. Brian Grosam earned his PhD in Acupuncture in 2009 from the Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine where he fulfilled clinical studies in gynecology and neurology. Upon completion of his PhD\, he became a professor at the American Academy of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine where he taught acupuncture from 2008-2015.Dr. Brian Grosam is the author of “Understanding and Treating Hot Flashes in Menopause with Chinese Medicine” the first book in history to be written on the subject. His book combines Chinese medicine concepts with current Western medicine frameworks of science for a contemporary treatment approach to hot flashes. SUMMARY:1 Day Workshop: Tung Acupuncture for Pelvic Pain Management with Naomi Jankowski
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nSeminar Description\nPelvic pain\, whether it be from endometriosis\, adenomyosis\, or another condition\, is gaining light in the public eye and more women are looking for alternatives to Western treatment options. A recent study has shown that for 80% of women with endometriosis\, pain is not prompted by the diseased tissue itself\, but rather the way the tissue interacts with the nerves in the pelvis. Surgery may not be the best option for these cases. As acupuncturists we can offer a potential alternative\, using our known pathways of nervous system interaction to benefit these patients. \nEndometriosis and adenomyosis in particular are often considered complex  diseases\, but ones we can work with effectively through the lens of Chinese medicine with the right tools in our tool kit. In this seminar we discuss Tung’s acupuncture for management of pelvic pain conditions in a way that is logical and succinct. Practitioners will leave the day with a selection of Tung’s points that they can begin applying immediately in their clinical practice. We also discuss the broader implications of these points\, outside of the realm of pelvic pain. \n\nTestimonial\n\n“Outstanding! Naomi manages to explain difficult concepts in a way that is easily accessible for those who are unfamiliar with this style of acupuncture. The information is clinically relevant and immediately applicable. Naomi is a pleasure to listen to.!” \n– A.R\, Chinese Medicine Practitioner\n\nCourse Outline\nTung acupuncture is known for its minimal needling and powerful results. This one-day seminar introduces Tung theory and its practical application for treatment which focuses on the management of pelvic pain conditions associated with endometriosis\, adenomyosis\, vaginismus and vulvodynia. This session is appropriate for both the new graduate and those already familiar with the Tung system. \nIn this seminar we condense the concepts of Tung’s acupuncture\, making it immediately accessible and applicable in clinical practice. Practitioners will gain specific understanding of the use of key acupuncture points for pelvic pain conditions with a broad range of clinical applications alongside an analysis of the (TCM) patterns associated with endometriosis\, adenomyosis\, vaginismus and vulvodynia. \nNaomi presents a step-by-step system that allows the practitioner to go from their diagnosis to the appropriate selection of points via pulse diagnosis\, palpation\, and consideration of pain locations\, within a framework that is logical and effective. \nWhat you will learn: \n\nA summarized background of Master Tung and his lineage\, as well as an introduction to the basic concepts of Tung’s acupuncture\, such as imaging\, and use of microsystems.\nAn overview of Western treatment options for endometriosis\, adenomyosis\, vaginismus and vulvodynia.\nPattern differentiation and acupuncture point selection.\nDiscussion of factors affecting point selection such as the location of pain\, the pulse and palpation of potential acupuncture points.\nPatient management and what to aim for when working with pain conditions in clinic.\nAttendees will also have the opportunity to invite patients along and observe Naomi apply the techniques discussed at the seminar.\n\n  \nAbout Naomi Jankowski (AP\, LAc\, MAc\, DiplAc)\n \nNaomi Jankowski is an AHPRA registered acupuncturist\, who has significant experience working with women with pelvic pain within an integrated clinical setting. Naomi graduated from SSNT in 2009 and is now in her 12th year of clinic practice. After graduating\, she studied with Steven Clavey\, and later also practiced at his clinic. SUMMARY:Essentials for Auriculotherapy and Auricular Medicine with Im Quah-Smith
DESCRIPTION:EVENT AT CAPACITY\nAuricular medicine is a stand-alone treatment accessing the brain via cranial nerves to restore functionality. It is sometimes referred to simplistically as ear acupuncture. Auricular medicine accesses brain connectivity via the cranial nerves using the ear (auricle). This therapy can support individuals suffering postural problems\, anxiety\, headache\, depression\, ADHD and functional learning delay. It plays an excellent supporting role in the management of complex pain\, and during chemotherapy and IVF treatments. \nAuriculotherapy is based on proven correspondences between locations on the external ear and the internal organs and systems of the body. The ear acts like an input/output terminal in direct contact with the central nervous system. Information on viscerosomatic states can be accessed via visual clues\, skin electro-conductivity\, and pressure sensitivity at specific points. \nDr Paul Nogier’s Auriculotherapy shows how acupuncture needles are used in sophisticated and powerful therapeutic interventions. \nDr Im Quah-Smith trained under Dr Rapahel Nogier and will teach the principles and practice auriculomedicine\, a true frequency medicine that evolved from Dr. Paul Nogier’s auriculotherapy\, his discovery of the VAS (Vascular Autonomic Signal) in the pulse and his consequent observations of the diagnostic and therapeutic properties of radiant light frequencies on the skin. Auriculotherapy is sometimes referred to as “Battlefield Acupuncture” for its immediate effectiveness as a first-line therapy. \nSeminar Program\n\nIntroduction\nMusculoskeletal Map\nInternal Organs Map\nBrain and Nervous System Map\nLocation of Active Sites\n\n– LUNCH BREAK – \n\nMusculoskeletal System (Back\, Upper Limbs\, Lower Limbs)\nInternal Organs (Liver\, Kidney)\nBrain (Stress\, Anxiety\, Depression)\n\nDetails\nDATE: 21st November 2021 \nTIME: 9:30am – 5:30pm \n7 CPD points \nVENUE: The Royal Squadron Yacht Club\, 33 Peel St\, Kirribilli\, NSW 2061 \nPRICING: \n\nPractitioner – $395\nStudent (Undergraduate) – $295\n\nAbout Im\nDr. Im Quah-Smith is a medical practitioner and independent medical researcher with a focus on optimal wellbeing. Im developed her interest in mind-body medicine during her many years in general practice where she observed the effects of environmental stressors on physical symptomatology in patients. \nDr. Quah-Smith specialises in medical acupuncture and is a Fellow of the Australian Medical Acupuncture College (AMAC). Further acupuncture studies were undertaken in Lyon\, France at GLEM\, the home of modern ear acupuncture\, under Dr. Raphael Nogier. She holds a Masters degree in Family Medicine. \nDr.Quah-Smith participates in international medical research with well-respected leaders in TCM and acupuncture\, neuroscience\, psychiatry\, primary health care and paediatrics. SUMMARY:LIVE INTERACTIVE WEBINAR: Motor Point Acupuncture for Effective Treatment of Chronic Pain of the Upper Extremities with Rich Hazel and Dan Dominguez
DESCRIPTION:CAPACITY REACHED\nPlease Note: Numbers are strictly limited\nPRIVATE ZOOM LINK WILL BE SENT CLOSER TO THE DATE \nWEBINAR PROGRAM\nIntroduction to Chronic Pain of the Upper Extremities\nIn this webinar\, Rich and Dan will give you solid strategies that will work consistently for some of the toughest conditions to treat without acupuncture for overuse injuries in the upper extremity which can be some of the most chronic and debilitating injuries for people. This holds especially true for those who play sport or hold a job that requires repetitive movement that may cause strain injuries to the elbow\, wrist and fingers. Motor Point Acupuncture makes many of these issues melt away in very few sessions. \nFor many chronic issues people tend to seek more invasive treatments/surgical interventions for injuries that generally respond very well and often very quickly to motor point acupuncture. \nPatients feel the relief in minutes. \nWhen a joint or tendon in the elbow or wrist is causing pain it’s most likely due to muscle shortening in groups of muscles that flex or extend the wrist fingers or elbow. Unlike most injuries\, the forearm can be assessed based on palpation\, symptoms and an understanding of the actions and anatomy of the muscles which will be covered in this webinar. \nDan will be demonstrating some Neurofunctional approaches that stimulate the musculocutaneous nerve or the radial nerve septum using the pointer plus for certain conditions. Making sure you develop the skills and knowledge to nail Motor Point treatment consistently and reliably time after time again for this focus area\, so that patients will feel comfortable and confident sharing their results with colleagues and strangers to refer to your practice\, \nPeople of all ages can get these repetitive stress injuries from students to those who work long hours at a desk to tradesmen\, and the symptoms\, anatomy\, palpation and explanation of the following injuries (below) will be covered by Rich and Dan through theory and demonstration of needling technique. \nThe following dysfunctions will be covered:  \n\nTennis elbow\nGolfers elbow\nTriceps for the tennis and golfers\nOlecranon pain or bursitis\nBiceps tendonitis or injury coracobrachialis\nMusculocutaneous nerve (Neurofunctional)\nDe quervains tenosynovitis\nTrigger finger strategy\nCubital tunnel\nCarpal tunnel\nRadial nerve septum (Neurofunctional)\nTexters thumb\nTFCC tear\n\nIf you struggle with treating any or all of these issues\, join us. This is a MUST SEE WEBINAR! \nIn their usual style\, Rich and Dan never hold back on any tips or tricks that they have learnt over their years in clinical practice.
