SUMMARY:Daoist Ways Of Enhancing Vitality with Livia Kohn
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \n \nWORKSHOP OVERVIEW\nVitality in Daoism is a function of vital energy or qi\, notably the smoothness and harmony of its flow. Various methods serve to enhance this\, creating a stronger level of health\, a greater sense of well-being\, and an extension of youthful living. \nAfter an introductory discussion of the nature and workings of qi on Saturday morning\, starting at 9:30\, the workshop presents a series of different methods that serve to enhance the quality and power of qi. For the remainder of Saturday\, we focus on opening the energy flow by learning about and engaging in breathing practices\, healing exercises\, and internal qi-guiding. There will be a lunch break from 12:30 to 14:00 and we will adjourn for the day at 17:00. \nFollowing the same overall schedule\, on Sunday morning\, we energize the five inner organs\, working with particular methods of breathing and studying the power of visualization. In the afternoon\, we learn how to activate core Daoist values\, notably sufficiency and nonaction\, engaging with the essential potentialities of heaven and earth. \nIn each case\, sessions last about one hour and fifteen minutes. They begin with a PowerPoint presentation\, then open to questions\, after which we engage in the actual practices. The goal is to engage with Daoist thinking\, increase awareness of qi\, and gain a set of tools to choose from for its modification and the enhancement of vitality. \nABOUT LIVIA KOHN\n \nLivia Kohn is Professor Emerita of Religion & East Asian Studies at Boston University. Her specialty is Daoism and the study of Chinese longevity practices. She has written and edited numerous books and articles. SUMMARY:Acupuncture Point Combinations to treat Mental and Emotional Disorders A Practical Workshop with David Hartmann
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nCourse Outline\nFrom experience\, when a Chinese medicine practitioner searches for content on how to treat complicated mental and emotional disorders\, two key things occur. The first\, is that there is a significant lack of content; the second\, is that the content available is too foundational. Let me ask you a question here: how many patients have you seen in your clinic present with anger as their main complaint? Or grief\, fear or joy? In fact\, how often do you see any of the seven main emotions as primary patient complaints? I have been in practice since 1993 and treating mental health is my special interest (can’t say speciality 😉)\, and I rarely see patients that present with one of the seven main emotions as their primary complaint. Our patient’s mental health is usually quite complicated\, therefore you need to think ‘outside the box’ when constructing acupuncture point combinations. \nIn this workshop we will analyse and discuss acupuncture point combinations for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)\, self-esteem issues\, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)\, phobias\, panic attacks\, hypervigilance\, addictions\, and even sympathy/empathy. \nThese acupuncture point combinations will come from a range of different Chinese medicine systems\, including\, but not limited to\, Zàng Fǔ Patterns\, Five Elements\, Five Spirits or Eight Extraordinary Vessels. So\, if you want a course that gives you content that is almost impossible to find\, especially for the disorders discussed\, look no further. I am super excited to share my knowledge\, clinical experience and my favourite acupuncture point combinations for the different mental and emotional disorders. \nSo\, what will you learn?\nIn this two-day workshop you will be taken through a range of different acupuncture point combinations to treat mental and emotional disorders. The goal being that you are provided with additional treatment options to consider for your patients. More tools for the toolbox as it were. Tools you can apply in clinic immediately! \nSee below for a larger snapshot of each days acupuncture point combinations. \nCourse Overview\nSaturday 16th November 2024 \n\nSelf-Esteem Issues – Accessing the Heart Shén and Pericardium (Xīn Bāo).\nObsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).\nSympathy/Empathy – including 100th Monkey Theory/Critical Mass/Collective Consciousness.\n\nSunday 17th November 2024 \n\nPhobias\, Panic Attacks\, Hypervigilance.\nPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).\nAddictions – Cigarettes/Nicotine\, Alcohol\, Opiates/Opioids\, Others. This will include a very brief history before discussing each of the seven emotions which are anger\, joy\, pensiveness\, worry\, sadness/grief\, fear and shock. Part of the discussion will include organ and element relationships\, diagnosis and acupuncture point combinations used to treat. The workshop will conclude with an introduction to David’s future workshops\, courses and textbook on mental health conditions separate to/including the seven emotions. \nAt the end of this workshop\, you will: \n\nBe more proficient in identifying the different types of mental and emotional disorders seen in clinic.\nUnderstand the various forms of diagnoses that can apply for each of the mental and emotional disorders; and then how to treat those disorders.\nHave a greater insight into the importance of acupuncture point combinations.\nFeel like you now have the tools to construct your own acupuncture point combinations for mental and emotional disorders.\nHave been taken through Chinese medicine concepts that are new to you; something you had forgotten you knew and are therefore reminded of again; or for consolidating knowledge already known.\nHave a better understanding of a range of different Chinese medicine/philosophy concepts that tie in with the treatment of patients with mental and emotional disorders.\n\n  \nDay 1: Saturday 16th November 2024 – 9.30am-5.30pm\n\n					 \n9.30am-10.45am – Theory – Part 1 (75 minutes) \n\nSelf-Esteem Issues – Accessing the Heart Shén and Pericardium (Xīn Bāo).\nQuestion and Answer (Q&A).\n\n10.45am-11am – Morning break \n11am-12pm – Practical – Part 1 (60 minutes) \n\nDemonstrations (where relevant).\nParticipant practical.\n\n12pm-1pm – Theory – Part 2 (60 minutes) \n\nObsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).\nQuestion and Answer (Q&A).\n\n1pm-2pm – Lunch \n2pm-3pm – Practical – Part 2 (60 minutes) \n\nDemonstrations (where relevant).\nParticipant practical.\n\n3pm-3.15pm – Afternoon break \n3.15pm-4.30pm – Theory – Part 3 (75 minutes) \n\nSympathy/Empathy – including 100th Monkey Theory/Critical Mass/Collective Consciousness.\nQuestion and Answer (Q&A).\nQuick demonstrations if possible – otherwise show after morning break.\n\n4.30pm-5.30pm – Practical – Part 3 (60 minutes) \n\nDemonstrations (where relevant)\nParticipant practical.\n\nFinish\n \n  \nDay 2: Sunday 17th November 2024 – 9.30am-5.30pm\n\n 9.30am-10.45am – Theory – Part 1 (75 minutes) \n\nPhobias\, Panic Attacks\, Hypervigilance.\nQuestion and Answer (Q&A)\nQuick demonstrations if possible – otherwise show after morning break.\n\n10.45am-11am – Morning break \n11am-12pm – Practical – Part 1 (60 minutes) \n\nDemonstrations (where relevant)\nParticipant practical.\n\n12pm-1pm – Theory – Part 2 (60 minutes) \n\nPost-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).\nQuestion and Answer (Q&A)\n\n1pm-2pm – Lunch \n2pm-3pm – Practical – Part 2 (60 minutes) \n\nDemonstrations (where relevant)\nParticipant practical.\n\n3pm-3.15pm – Afternoon break \n3.15pm-4.30pm – Theory – Part 3 (75 minutes) \n\nAddictions – Cigarettes/Nicotine\, Alcohol\, Opiates/Opioids\, Others. SUMMARY:Comprehensive Tung's Acupuncture Intensive with Henry McCann
DESCRIPTION:Register Now \n \nCOURSE OVERVIEW\nTung’s Acupuncture is an effective method of mostly distant point acupuncture that today is popular around the world. It is also flexible\, equally capable of treating pain management cases and internal medicine. Tung’s Acupuncture achieves this by combining an understanding of channel theory\, microsystem and holographic thinking\, and an attention to point location and needling variations. Combined together studying Tung’s approach also enhances one’s practice of other acupuncture systems. \nBy now most acupuncturists have heard of Tung’s system and online classes are plentiful\, but over time full in-person training in the fundamentals of the system are fewer and fewer. This means we have more and more Tung practitioners who apply rigid point prescriptions without understanding important principles\, and without having had in-person training in needling and point location. In this course we will cover all the core basic theory of the system\, and systematically go through and cover all the main points with hands-on point location practice. Join us and learn or re-learn Tung’s in-person\, as acupuncture should ideally be taught! \nTopics Covered Include: \n\nAn overview of channel\, microsystem\, and body tissue theory in acupuncture\nTung’s approach to 5 Phase and 5 Zang organ treatment\nAll of Tung’s main points\, including locations and indications\nBloodletting in the Tung tradition\nHands-on point location practice\nSpecial needling methods and strategies\nThe treatment of commonly seen conditions in the clinic\n\n  \nCOURSE OUTLINE\n\n DAY 1 \n9am – 10am Introduction to Tung’s acupuncture \n10am – 12pm Core theory (zonal concepts; holographic\, channel and tissue correspondences; etc… ) \nLUNCH \n1pm – 2:30pm Points in Zone 1 (location\, indications) \n2:30pm – 3pm Point location practice \n3pm – 4:30pm Points in Zone 1 (continued); discussion of Zone 1 microsystem \n4:30 – 5pm Point location practice \n5pm – 5:30pm Points in Zone 2 (location\, indications) \n  \nDAY 2 \n9am – 10am Needle methods and strategies\, overview of Dao Ma needling \n10am – 11:30am Points in Zone 2 (continued) \n11:30 – 12pm Point location practice \nLUNCH \n1pm – 2:30pm Points in Zone 3 (location\, indications) \n2:30pm – 3pm Point location practice \n3pm – 4:30pm Points in Zone 4 & 5 \n4:30 – 5pm Point location practice \n5pm – 5:30pm Review of Five Phase Theory and application in acupuncture points \n  \nDAY 3 \n9am – 10am Organ Root Treatment in Tung’s Acupuncture \n10am – 11:30am Points in Zone 6 \n11:30 – 12:30pm Point in Zone 7 \nLUNCH \n1:30pm – 2:30pm Points in Zone 7 (continued) \n2:30pm – 3pm Point location practice \n3pm – 4:00pm Points in Zone 8 \n4pm – 5pm Points in Zone 9 & 10 \n5pm – 5:30pm Review\, location practice\, wrap-up \n  \nDAY 4 \n9am – 10am Introduction to the theory and history of bloodletting \n10am – 11am Bloodletting materials and methods \n11am – 12pm Safety Concerns and Clean Technique Review \nLUNCH \n1pm – 2:30pm Bloodletting points in Tung’s acupuncture \n2:30pm – 4:30pm Bleeding point zones in Tung’s Acupuncture \n4:30 – 5:30pm Hands-on practice \n  \nNOTE: Morning and afternoon tea breaks will also be scheduled on each of the days. \nRegister Now \nRECOMMENDED TEXTBOOK\n \nHenry has highly recommended attendees for this workshop also have a copy of his textbook “Practical Atlas Of Tung’s Acupuncture“. DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n  \nCourse Outline\nIntroducing Hirata Zone Therapy—a holographic Japanese moxibustion system from the 1930s based on the teachings of Kurakichi Hirata. Heated bamboo is applied rhythmically on the skin to trigger the body’s self-healing mechanisms. \nHirata’s primary goal was to create a system that was easy for patients to learn and apply on themselves. Eighty years after his death\, this method has become far more accessible with the application of a contemporary moxa device—Ontake Warm Bamboo\, a piece of bamboo filled with burning moxa wool. \n  \nWhat You Will Learn\nThis one-day workshop includes lectures\, demonstrations and practice. It covers everything you need to know to find Hirata’s zones on the body and apply Ontake to treat a variety of conditions. Topics covered include: \n\nIntroduction to Hirata and his ideas\nThe twelve zones in the six regions\nDr Manaka’s Meridian Frequencies\nZone selection and treatment\nBamboo Mini – working the back and waking up the immune system\nDosage\n\n  \nBy the end of the course you will be able to: \n\nLocate the Hirata zones and note significant reactions\nPerform a variety of techniques with Ontake including tapping\, rolling\, standing\, pressing\, vibrating and superknocking\nList and apply the frequencies for each zone\nApply a whole-body warm bamboo treatment to treat an organ system\nDescribe Japanese acupuncture concepts of dosage\nRemedy overtreatment using Ontake\nGet patients started with daily home treatment\n\n  \n*NB: Completion of Level 1 is required to undertake Level 2 \nLevel 1 tickets can be purchased here: https://chinesemedicineeducation.com/product/ontake-warm-bamboo-level-1-rhythmic-moxibustion-methods-from-japan-to-treat-root-and-branch-with-oran-kivity/ \n  \nAbout Oran Kivity\n \nVeteran British acupuncturist Oran Kivity trained in Europe\, China\, and Japan. Ding Jiwan (grandson of Ding Ganren of Wen Bing fame) taught this method to Dr. Shen in Shanghai and then Hong Kong during the turbulent years of 1937-1942. Dr. Shen as the sole survivor of World War 2 with knowledge of the pulse method\, fled the Communist Revolution in China for the USA. \nDr. Hammer\, a renowned practitioner\, first encountered Dr. Shen’s exceptional diagnostic skills in a Chinatown clinic in New York City during the early 1970s. This serendipitous meeting led to an eight-year apprenticeship for Dr. Hammer under Dr. Shen’s guidance\, and their collaboration spanned thirty years\, during which they recorded and refined the Menghe pulse method. \nThe Shen-Hammer Pulse method has evolved from Classical Chinese medicine theory. It recognizes that the range of energy transformations within a human body reflects the infinite combination of spatial and temporal energy possibilities in the macrocosm. The pulse carries information encoded within it\, representing the physiological exchanges specific to that individual organism. \nPalpating the radial artery allows us to decipher these exchanges and provides rich and extensive diagnostic information. The pulse describes the inherited life of a person\, their current state of being\, and can indicate possible health trajectories for the future. \nOnce the information encoded in the pulse is deciphered\, it guides the practitioner to skillfully implement management strategies. These strategies may include acupuncture\, Chinese herbs\, and lifestyle modifications to positively impact the physical and psycho-emotional potential of the clients. \nThe Shen-Hammer Pulse method is a refined and comprehensive approach to pulse diagnosis that draws upon ancient Chinese medicine theory. It allows practitioners to gain valuable insights into their clients’ health and guide them towards appropriate treatment strategies to enhance their well-being. \n  \n\n             \n\n\n\nAbout Dr. Karen Bilton (PhD)\nKaren started her career in healthcare as a physiotherapist. She has been practising acupuncture and Chinese medicine for 28 years and is licensed to practise in Australia and the USA. Having worked in the USA for 15 years she has been studying with Dr Leon Hammer\, MD since 1997. She completed doctoral studies evaluating the reliability of practitioners applying Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis clinically. Karen is one of a handful of people who inherited this pulse method and model of developmental psychological model directly from Dr Hammer. \nShe is co-author of a Handbook of Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis; taught Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis classes as well as presented at conferences in China\, USA\, Australia\, and New Zealand; and has published her work in peer review journals. Karen having lectured at respected institutions like Pacific College of Oriental Medicine\, New York City; the University of Technology\, Sydney; and the University of Western Sydney; is further testament to her academic excellence and contribution to Chinese medicine. \nCurrently she is in clinical practice in Sydney\, Australia\, and continues her exploration of acupuncture\, Chinese herbal medicine in relation to Daoist cosmology.  She endeavours to share her knowledge teaching classes in pulse diagnosis and the psychology of Dragon Rises\, Red Bird Flies. \n\n\n\nRegister Now\nDetails\n\nDates: 20th of September to 23rd of September 2024\nTime: 8.30am – 5.30pm\nLocation:  College of Complementary Medicine – Level 6/128-134 Chalmers Street\, Surry Hills\, NSW\, 2010\, Opposite Central Railway Station\nPricing:\n\nPay Deposit: $250* (incl. SUMMARY:Using Chinese Medicine to treat male infertility (fighting “Spermageddon”) with Dr Olivia Pojer
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\nUsing Chinese Medicine to treat male infertility (fighting “Spermageddon”) with Dr. Olivia Pojer\, MD(AUT) \nCourse Description\nOn average one out of 6 couples experience infertility\, defined as one or two year of unsuccessful attempts of trying to conceive a baby. Due to this fact\, the fertility clinics popularity is increasing. Talking statistically\, in every Western world classroom there is at least one pupil that was fathered with the help of assisted reproduction. Looking at the reasons of unfulfilled parenthood\, 40% are female issues and 40% are male issues. \nInterestingly our society as well as our medicine (both conventional but also Chinese Medicine) focus quite exclusively on treating the female part of the childless couple. Thus the percentage of male issues for infertility-the so called male factor- is the same as the female one\, treating the male partner is very underrepresented. \nDespite the fact that the seminal quality has declined within the last 30 years by more than 60%\, it downgraded so dramatically that the WHO had to correct and adapt the standard value for the semen analyses in 2010 and 2021 to make sure that one could get non-pathological semen analyses results at all. On top of that the male factor plays an important role in early pregnancy loss and should be treated in any case to prevent abortion. \nIn this seminar\, we will extensively examine the obligatory treatment of the male factor as well\, whenever an infertile couple enters the Chinese Medicine office in future. \nTo enable participants to treat their male fertility patients properly\, there will be an introduction on andrology from a biomedicine perspective\, talk about research-based causes of infertility\, diagnostics and the limitation of the treatment with conventional medicine which will need be examined and discussed.  Biomedicine knowledge is essential to understand how sperm is produced and what can damage its proper development to apply the best treatment to help. In the Chinese Medicine portion\, focus will be on specific and targeted pattern discrimination\, diagnostics\, acupuncture treatment and herbal prescription to support sperm quality. We will then be able to use the best Yin and Yang tools out of the toolboxes of Chinese and conventional Medicine \nRegister Now\nCourse Outline\nDay 1 Course Schedule \n\n\n\n9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Registration and Introduction\n9:30 AM – 10:30 AM: Introduction to male infertility issues\n10:30 AM – 10:45 AM: Break\n10:45 AM – 12:00 PM: Diagnosis and diagnostic tools of Western Medicine (semen analysis & its interpretation\, DNA Fragmentation Index)\n12:00 PM – 1:00 PM: Lunch Break\n1:00 PM – 2:30 PM: TCM andrology overview and Western medicine anatomy of male reproductive system and sperm production\n2:30 PM – 2:45 PM: Break\n2:45 PM – 4:00 PM: What is needed to fertilize an egg-fertilisation step by step (from a spermatozoa´s point of view)\n\n\n\nDay 2 Course Schedule \n\n\n\n9:00 AM – 10:15 AM: Common causes of male fertility problems-research\n10:15 AM – 10:30 AM: Break\n10:30 AM – 12:00 PM: Causes and pathomechanism of male infertility from a Chinese Medicine\npoint of view. She started studying acupuncture in 1987\, and in 1993 obtained her Fellowship from the Australian Medical Acupuncture College. In 2002\, she obtained her Master in Applied Science\, majoring in Acupuncture. Throughout her career\, she has been deeply involved in acupuncture education\, as lecturer\, tutor\, mentor and examiner. \nYNSA started as a chance encounter with Dr Toshikatsu Yamamoto in Vienna in 2000 and since then became a direct disciple for over 23 years with Dr Yamamoto along with being a close friend.   \nIn 2004\, Dr Teo\, as Chair of Education\, AMAC\, invited Dr Yamamoto to run the first YNSA workshop in Australia\, at the ICMART Congress in Sydney Australia. Dr Yamamoto has over the years conducted six workshops in Sydney\, Perth\, and in 2017\, a workshop in Brisbane. Dr Teo has also conducted a series of YNSA workshops in Australia across several states and has mentored students from these courses. More recently\, she has also conducted YNSA workshops overseas. \nDr Emily Teo runs a full time acupuncture practice in Australia\, with YNSA as the main technique offered. To keep up to date with the latest developments in YNSA\, Dr Teo attends yearly workshops conducted by Dr Yamamoto in Miyazaki\, Japan. \n  \nYNSA Workshop – Dr Emily Teo: A Review By Kerry Carmody\, Acupuncturist\nYamamoto New Scalp Acupuncture (YNSA)\, is a sub-specialty of acupuncture treatment that was developed since the 1970’s by a Japanese physician Dr Toshikatsu Yamamoto. While it is a relatively late arrival into the repertoire of TCM acupuncture in Australia it has been well received in the U.S.A. and Europe over the past several decades. \nThe clinical efficacy of YNSA is particularly apparent in treating musculo-skeletal problems and injuries. Notably the patient can provide immediate feedback in the course of the treatment enabling you to modify your technique if required\, to achieve better results. As a considerable proportion of patients are seeking treatment for painful conditions of various kinds\, YNSA provides a direct pathway to successful outcomes. \nHowever the range of applications goes well beyond this\, being applicable to complex neurological conditions such as peripheral neuropathy\, Parkinson’s syndrome and stroke recovery. It is also particularly useful in an aging population to minimise the risk of falling. \nA sound understanding of the basics is essential\, and requires a degree of application and commitment. However the theoretical basis of the system is relatively straightforward. \nThe basics points (A to I) cover the musculoskeletal system and their associated nerves. With these\, most relatively straight-forward cases can be treated successfully. The sensory points treat all reversible conditions associated with the sensory organs. The brain\, cranial nerve and Ypsilon points open the door to treating neurological and visceral conditions. \nThe application of the technique is straight-forward\, well tolerated\, comfortable and not demanding on the patient. \nIn brief\, YNSA is a truly innovative sub-specialty in acupuncture admirably suited to obtaining impressive clinical results for your patients in sometimes complex conditions. \nThe text ‘Defining the Application of YNSA’ is recommended as preparatory background to the course and is available from China Books. \nI would recommend those learning YNSA for the first time that you commit the following to memory before the seminar. \n  \n \nSUMMARY of YNSA Basic Points. \nA – 1 cm lateral to midline (ML). SUMMARY:Advanced Facial Acupuncture Certification: Advanced Applications of Anti-Aging Cosmetic Acupuncture Theory and Techniques with Michelle Gellis
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n3 Day Live Facial Needling Workshop\nMichelle Gellis is a renowned acupuncturist who not only performs the ancient art of facial acupuncture\, she also teaches acupuncture facial rejuvenation classes to acupuncturists across the nation. \nCourse Description:\nDiscover the transformative power of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture\, an ancient practice that offers a gentle\, effective\, and safe approach to combat the signs of aging and rejuvenate your face naturally. This course delves into the benefits of acupuncture for revitalizing the skin\, building collagen\, toning muscles\, improving circulation\, and stimulating blood flow. Unlike surgical procedures or injections\, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture carries no risks of scars\, infections\, rashes\, or chemical buildup. \nBeyond its cosmetic effects\, Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture works holistically by shifting the energy flow within the body\, initiating a process of constitutional rejuvenation. Chinese medicine teaches us that health radiates from the inside out\, and this holistic approach not only erases frown lines but also improves overall well-being\, sleep quality\, energy levels\, and digestion. As we age\, the muscles in our face lose tone and mass\, leading to sagging\, deep wrinkles\, and a tired appearance. Through acupuncture\, muscle function is stimulated\, allowing the face to lift itself naturally via targeted acupuncture points. This results in a healthier\, revitalized\, and more youthful appearance. \nIn this course\, you will learn specific techniques employed by Michelle\, an expert practitioner\, who has achieved incredible results\, as demonstrated in the accompanying photos below. The course covers the placement of acupuncture needles on the face\, including specific points which are noted to have the highest efficacy and wrinkle areas. The micro trauma caused by needles in the wrinkles stimulates collagen production\, further enhancing the rejuvenating effects. \nJoin us to unlock the secrets of Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture and acquire the skills to help your clients achieve remarkable results. \nOnce the information encoded in the pulse is deciphered\, it guides the practitioner to skilfully implement management strategies. \n\n\n\n  \nDetails\n\nDates: Friday 15th September – Monday 18th September\, 2023\nTime: 8.30am – 5.30pm\nLocation: College of Complementary Medicine – Level 6/128-134 Chalmers Street\, Surry Hills\, NSW\, 2010\, Opposite Central Railway Station\nPricing:\n\nDeposit: $200* (incl. SUMMARY:LIVE ZOOM WEBINAR: Using Chinese Medicine/East Asian Medicine to address Intergenerational Trauma with CT Holman
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nPresenting CT Holman\, author of Treating Emotional Trauma with Chinese Medicine: Integrated Diagnostic and Treatment Strategies\n\n\nRegister Now\nWebinar Description\nUsing Chinese Medicine/East Asian Medicine to address Intergenerational Trauma with CT Holman\nTrauma victims can pass on their trauma genetically. By clearing trauma and reducing the charge of a particular belief system\, it is possible to prevent passing the trauma on to future generations.  Western medical research in epigenetics has shown that memories and traumatic experiences can be transferred up to five generations. In Chinese medicine\, the Jing contains the genetic information\, and this can be passed on to succeeding generations.  \nAttitudes\, personality\, emotional make-up\, and belief systems are all part of the Jing that is inherited. Strengths and imbalances are passed on. The imbalances can be corrected with Chinese medicine to prevent them from continuing in a patient’s offspring. In addition\, Chinese medicine can clear the old traumas so they are not passed on to subsequent generations. \nCT Holman will discuss ways to diagnose and treat generational trauma by utilising Chinese medicine. He will demonstrate specific acupuncture point combinations and needle techniques. Several patient pictures and case studies will be included. \nUpon completing the course\, participants will be able to apply this knowledge in their clinic. \nLearning Objectives\n\nUnderstand how generational trauma is passed down to subsequent generations. \nLearn diagnostic techniques to determine if a patient’s physiology has been compromised by trauma.\nLearn point prescriptions and needle techniques to treat generational trauma.\n\n\nOutline: \n\nHour 1: Discuss generational trauma and how it is interpreted in Chinese medicine. Western medical research will be included. Discuss diagnostic techniques to determine trauma. Extensive explanations utilizing facial diagnosis will be included.\nHour 2: Discuss treatment principles and acupuncture prescriptions to treat intergenerational trauma.\nHour 3: Present case studies of treating trauma.\n\n\nAbout CT Holman\n \nCT Holman practices Chinese medicine in Salem\, Oregon. His fulltime clinic was founded in 2001. CT wrote the textbooks: Treating Emotional Trauma with Chinese Medicine and Shamanism in Chinese Medicine both published by Singing Dragon. He teaches courses internationally\, operates a mentorship program\, and is the Director of Development for the Lotus Institute of Lillian Pearl Bridges. He studied in China (1999\, 2001\, and 2003) and has extensive post-graduate education with several leading teachers in the field. \nCT has taught in Sweden\, Germany\, Mexico\, Denmark\, Australia\, and the US. He teaches at the Oregon College of Chinese Medicine for its doctoral program\, mentors masters and doctoral students\, and has been published in the Journal of Chinese Medicine. CT utilises drumming with acupuncture treatments and has recently recorded and released a CD\, Resonating Vitality – Chinese Medicine Drum Treatments. \n\nDetails\n\nDate: Sunday\, 9th of July 2023\nTime: 9am – 12pm (AEST)\nPricing: $230 for Practitioners\, $190 for Students (FULL TIME Undergraduates)\nCPD: 3 CPD Points\nNotes: Included\nVENUE: LIVE ONLINE COURSE- ZOOM LINK WILL BE PROVIDED CLOSER TO THE DATE\n\n  \nRegister Now\nThis is a live webinar conducted via the ZOOM VIDEO CONFERENCING Platform.  \nDisclaimer before registering for the Live Webinar\nPlease check the relevant date/time zone to your location in accordance with the date and time provided above. SUMMARY:LIVE ZOOM WEBINAR: Applying Facial Diagnosis to Identify the Root of Disease Patterns with CT Holman
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nPresenting CT Holman\, author of Treating Emotional Trauma with Chinese Medicine: Integrated Diagnostic and Treatment Strategies\n\n\nRegister Now\nWebinar Description\nApplying Facial Diagnosis to Identify the Root of Disease Patterns with CT Holman\nFacial features\, colors\, and markings provide a blueprint of the emotional and physical state of the body. Ancient Chinese facial diagnosis gives insight into a person’s constitution\, their emotional tendencies\, their disease patterns\, and their belief systems. \nCT Holman teaches the Lillian Pearl Bridges Facial Diagnosis lineage. In this applied facial diagnostic course\, CT explains how to detect the state of each organ system and a patient’s personality by reading the various colors and features on the face. By understanding the balance of the five elements seen on the face\, a thorough diagnosis is achieved. CT will show many patient pictures and discuss case studies to bring the diagnostic information to life. \nUpon completing the course\, participants will be able to apply this knowledge in their clinic. \nLearning Objectives\n\nUnderstand how the facial features of the face relate to the five elements and how to apply this knowledge in crafting acupuncture point prescriptions.\nUse the colors seen on the face to create acupuncture prescriptions.\nLearn point prescriptions for treating the various emotional\, behavioral\, and physical imbalances identified on the face.\n\n\nOutline: \n\nHour 1: Discuss the organ map of the face and explain which features relate to each organ. Discuss the various colors seen on the face and how they determine pathophysiology.\nHour 2: Discuss the emotional map in detail and how the various lines give clues into which organ spirits are affected. Provide acupuncture point prescriptions based on the lines seen on the face. Explain the difference between the left and right side of the face. Explain how to read the true nature of a person and help them understand their authentic spirit.\nHour 3: Discuss the three zones of the face and how to utilize this information to best communicate with patients and improve patient interactions. Discuss Peach Luck and how it helps diagnose the state of a person’s spirit. Explain how to differentiate the state of the organ spirits and understand the health of a person’s spirit.\nHour 4: Present several case studies of diagnosing and treating patients based on facial diagnosis. Provide several acupuncture prescriptions based on facial diagnostic findings.\n\n\nAbout CT Holman\n \nCT Holman practices Chinese medicine in Salem\, Oregon. SUMMARY:Channel Palpation and Diagnosis: An Exploration of Classical Acupuncture Techniques with Jason D. Robertson
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\nCourse Outline\nChannel examination is a classical diagnostic technique not often taught in modern acupuncture schools. Emphasised in the earliest acupuncture texts (Nei Jing/Nan Jing)\, observation and palpation of the channels is extremely helpful for confirming diagnosis\, refining point selection and improving clinical results. This three-day class will focus on learning and applying channel diagnosis through interactive lectures and extensive hands-on practice of technique. In addition\, an exploration of channel-based physiology will be presented from the text Applied Channel Theory in Chinese Medicine (Eastland Press\, Seattle 2008). Students will leave with a greater understanding of classical physiology and diagnostic techniques for evaluating pathological patterns in both internal conditions and musculoskeletal complaints. \n  \nApplied Channel Theory\nApplied Channel Theory (jīng luò yī xué) is an approach to acupuncture rooted in the dual research threads of classical texts and modern clinical application. Developed by Dr. Wang Ju–Yi over 50 years in Beijing clinics\, hospitals and research institutes\, it involves the rigorous combination of theory and diagnostic technique. More precisely\, Applied Channel Theory requires that examination of acupuncture channels be considered in the broader context of other diagnostic tools. In addition to channel examination\, Applied Channel Theory is a comprehensive system that includes channel theory (channel qi transformation)\, channel differentiation\, channel selection\, the nature of acupuncture points\, point selection and location\, and various methods of channel regulation (like acupuncture\, moxibustion\, hand techniques\, cupping and so on). This lost art has been brought back to modern practice by Dr Wang’s teachings and introduced to the Western world through Jason Robertson’s best selling title Applied Channel Theory in Chinese medicine: Wang Ju-Yi’s Lectures on Channel Therapeutics. Attendees will be taught the fundamental techniques of channel examination\, palpation and diagnosis in this practical workshop. \n \n  \nWhat You Will Learn\n\nAn introduction to Applied Channel Theory (jīng luò yī xué). This will begin with an overview of the classical conception of the channels based on the life work of Beijing Professor Wang Ju-Yi. An understanding of the physical location and function of the channels will underpin our exploration of clinical strategy. This will include a discussion of physiology from the perspective of ‘channels’ as six subcategories of homeostasis.\nEach day will also include practice of channel examination. Hands-on demonstration and practice with feedback from the instructor will be extensive. Students will develop skills for gleaning diagnostic information from careful palpation of the distal channels. Much like tongue observation and pulse diagnosis\, channel examination can be crucial for determining patterns of disharmony (zhèng).\nBuilding on basic techniques\, discussions of channel-based physiological models will expand to include discussions of how pathology can manifest specific\, palpable changes on the acupuncture channels. Specific points will be considered including demonstrations of precise point location and discussions of common findings and their possible diagnostic significance.\n\n  \nAbout Jason D. Robertson\n \nDr. Jason D. Robertson (MS\, DAHM) is the coauthor of Applied Channel Theory in Chinese Medicine: Wang Ju-Yi’s Lectures on Channel Therapeutics (Eastland Press\, 2008) with his teacher Professor Wang Ju-Yi. Dr. Robertson has studied Chinese language for 30 years and Chinese medicine in Chengdu and Beijing. He currently maintains a private practice in Seattle\, WA and is a full-time faculty member at the Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine (www. sieam.edu). Dr. Robertson has taught courses on channel theory and diagnosis around the world and has been recognized by the Beijing Administration of Chinese Medicine as an official apprentice of Wang Ju-Yi. More information about Applied Channel Theory\, including articles in both English and Chinese\, can be found at www.channelpalpation.org (look under the ‘media’ tab). \n  \nDetails\nDate: 31st March 2023 – 2nd April 2023\nTime: 9am – 5pm\nCPD: 19.5 CPD Points\nVenue: Rydges Darling Square – 72 Liverpool Street\, Sydney\, NSW\nNotes: Included \nEARLY BIRD SPECIAL (offer ends 10th March 2023)\nPractitioner Rate: $950\nStudent (Full Time – Undergraduate): $850 \nREGULAR PRICING\nPractitioner Rate: $1100\nStudent (Full Time – Undergraduate): $1050 \nTerms and Conditions\n*Registrations cancelled up to one week prior to the seminar will be refunded less 20%. SUMMARY:3 Day Intensive-Facial Acupuncture Certification: Practical Applications of Anti-Aging Facial Acupuncture with Michelle Gellis (Bonus microneedling course)
DESCRIPTION:Register Now\n\n3 Day Live Facial Needling Workshop (WITH BONUS MICRONEEDLING WORKSHOP ON LAST DAY) – SOLD OUT\nPrerequisite for attending microneedling proponent of class (Duration: 1.5 hours): Prerequisite 4 hour Practitioner Training available free with the Aculift Micropen System – purchase here\n \n\nTestimonial\n\n“Michelle’s last course on using Motor Points to treat expressions lines was so engaging and I learnt so much in 5 hours. I thought I wouldn’t be able to apply it instantly with a zoom webinar but Michelle made it very clear how and why to use certain muscle motor points\, where and when to apply them with video demos on tricky points. She simplified the expressions of the face diagnostically and I was able to immediately apply what I learnt in clinic the next day and get immediate effects- By far one of the best webinars I have ever done!” \n– AC\n\nMichelle Gellis is one of a select group of acupuncturists who not only performs the ancient art of facial acupuncture\, she also teaches acupuncture facial rejuvenation classes to acupuncturists across the nation. \nFacial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is a centuries old practice. It is a gentle\, effective\, and safe way to combat the signs of aging and erase years from your face without the risk or downtime of surgery or injections. Acupuncture offers many benefits to those who want to revitalize the look and feel of their skin. It builds collagen\, tones muscles\, improves circulation\, and stimulates blood flow with no risk of scars\, infections\, rashes\, or toxic build-up of chemicals. Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture is much more than a cosmetic procedure. Acupuncture changes the energy flow within the body and initiates the process for constitutional rejuvenation. If energy is not flowing freely throughout your body then your organs\, muscles and lymphatic system cannot function properly\, which can contribute to puffiness\, bags and premature aging. \nChinese medicine is based on the principle that health is manifested from the inside out. Using this Holistic approach\, not only do your frown lines disappear\, you feel better overall\, sleep better\, have more energy and better digestion. As you age\, the 57 muscles in your face gradually lose their tone and mass. Loss of tone and mass causes the sagging\, deep wrinkling and tired look associated with aging. Acupuncture stimulates the muscle function\, and the face lifts itself via the acupuncture points. Thus returning the face to a healthier\, revitalized\, youthful appearance. Needles are placed on the face in acupuncture points as well as wrinkles. The needles placed in the wrinkles create a micro trauma\, which causes collagen to be produced. You will learn specific techniques used by Michelle to achieve her incredible results as shown in some of the photos below. \nA series of Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation Treatments Can: \n\nErase fine lines\, deeper wrinkles diminished\nLift sagging eye lids\, reduce bags/circles\nFirm jowls and minimize double chin\nImprove muscle tone and increase collagen production\nEliminate puffiness by improving metabolism and eliminating excess fluids\nImprove hormonal balance\, benefits acne\nIncrease circulation of blood and lymph to the face and improves facial color\nMoisturize the skin and tighten pores\nSignificantly reduce the appearance of scars and age spots\nSlow the aging process from within\nReduce stress evident in the face\nPromote overall health and well being\n\nThese photos demonstrate the effects of facial acupuncture. \n         \nBefore Treatment      After Treatment \nRoseacea treated on right side of face\n \nWorkshop Outline\n \n  \n\nDay One\nWill cover Module 1 and 2 of the Facial Acupuncture Certification Program. \n\n\n\nModule 1: Patient Intake\, Diagnosis\, Contraindications – 2.5- 3 hours\nModule 2: Theory\, Techniques and Protocols – 3.5 hours\n\n\n\n\nDay Two\nHands-on days start with a review\, Q&A and demo\, with the majority of the day devoted to practice. \n\nModule 3: Facial Needling Techniques Demonstration and Practice – 6-7 hours\nDemo\nPractice\n\n\nDay Three\nHands-on days start with a review\, Q&A and demo\, with the majority of the day devoted to practice. \nAM\n\nModule 4: Facial Rejuvenation Cupping\, Gua Sha – 3.5 hours\nFacial Rejuvenation Cupping & Gua Sha\n\nContraindications & Precautions\n\n\nTheory & Techniques\n\nPractice\n\nPM\n\nModule 5: Advanced Techniques and Protocols in Facial Acupuncture – 5 hours\nAdvanced Cosmetic Techniques\nFacial Motor Points\nSubmusucular Needling\nScalp Acupuncture\n\n\nOPTIONAL Module: 1.5 HOUR MICRONEEDLING WORKSHOP AT END OF DAY 3\n(*This course is free to those who purchase the micropen system which you will receive on the day of the seminar- you can purchase the micropen system here) \nIn this optional component of this incredible three day workshop with Michelle.
