SUMMARY:Psycho-Emotional Distress: Circumstance or Curriculum? with Dr. Yvonne Farrell
DESCRIPTION:About this course\nSo many people are struggling with mental-health issues.  The weight of the world is heavy and life can be challenging.  Trying to find some mental-emotional equilibrium can be difficult and exhausting.  This may be part of why we so quickly rely on psychiatric medications for relief from suffering. \nPeople often feel overwhelmed\, stressed out or burdened by expectation. This emotional distress is a manifestation of the body-mind’s need for safety. We are trying to figure out how to survive the adversity of life. \nSometimes this emotional imbalance may be linked to a patient’s constitutional vulnerability. One can be genetically predisposed to anxiety or depression or one might even be carrying the unresolved trauma of previous generations. Here what we see is the struggle for meaning and purpose in life.  Existential questions like “who am i?” and “why am I here?” are keeping us up at night and leading us to loss of hope and deep despair. \nThe complete channel system has sub-systems that may be used to address both types of distress.  We need only understand these systems and recognize when they are not functioning well. \nThis 3-day course will look at the functions of both the Luo-collateral system and the 8 extraordinary Vessels.  We will explore the difference between post-natal function and pre-natal resources. Said another way\, we will begin to investigate the difference between circumstance and curriculum. \n\n\n\nLearning objectives\n\nRecognise the clinical distinction between post-natal emotional distress (circumstance) and pre-natal constitutional vulnerability (curriculum).\nDevelop a working knowledge of the Luo-collateral system\, including points\, pathways\, fullness and emptiness patterns\, and treatment approaches.\nUnderstand the archetypal nature of the 8 Extraordinary Vessels and their role in a patient’s constitutional curriculum.\nConstruct effective Luo-collateral and 8 Extraordinary Vessel treatments suited to the presenting pattern.\nApply assessment tools — including pulse diagnosis — to differentiate appropriate treatment strategies.\nDemonstrate accurate point location and needle technique for Luo and 8EV master points through supervised group practice.\n\n\n\n\nCourse schedule\n\n\nDay 1 — Circumstance: The Luo-Collateral System – How Post-Natal Qi and Blood Manage Emotional Suffering\n\nOn day one we will focus on the points\, pathways\, functions and indications for using the Luo-collateral system.  We will discuss how the system uses blood to create latency so that we can survive stress and overcome emotional suffering. \nHour 1: Overview of the channel system – Three levels of qi · The triune brain · Latency and its costs\nHour 2: The Luo-collateral system – Nature of ying qi · Relationship between primary channels and Luos · Micro-circulation and survival · Fullness vs emptiness\nHour 3: Luo-collateral specifics – Functions & indications · Markers of Luo pathology · Vessels of change · 16 Luo-points\nHour 4: First circuit — Lung\, Large Intestine\, Stomach\, Spleen – Points\, pathways\, functions & indications\nHour 5: Second circuit — Heart\, Small Intestine\, Urinary Bladder\, Kidney – Points\, pathways\, functions & indications\nHour 6: Third circuit — Pericardium\, San Jiao\, Gall Bladder\, Liver – Points\, pathways\, functions & indications\nHour 7: Greater Luos and constitutional Luos – Greater Luos of Spleen & Stomach · Constitutional Luos of Ren & Du Mai · Points\, pathways\, functions & indications \n\n\n\n\n\nDay 2 — Curriculum : The 8 Extraordinary Vessels – Pre-Natal Resources and the Archetypal Basis of Constitution\nOn day two we will take a look at the archetypal nature of the 8 Extraordinary Vessels and how this universal nature comes with the Heavenly mandate for our existence. These vessels are the root of a curriculum that attracts adversity so that we have the opportunity to learn what we came here to learn. \n\n\n\nHour 1: Overview of the 8 Extraordinary Vessels – Link between pre-natal resources & constitution · Functions & indications\nHour 2: First ancestry — Chong\, Du & Ren Mai – Pre-natal resources for life\nHour 3: Chong Mai – Points\, pathways\, functions & indications · Archetypal nature & curriculum issues\nHour 4: Du Mai & Ren Mai – Points\, pathways\, functions & indications · Archetypal nature & curriculum issues\nHour 5: The Wei Vessels — Yang Wei & Yin Wei Mai – Points\, pathways\, functions & indications · Archetypal nature & curriculum issues\nHour 6: The Qiao Vessels — Yang Qiao & Yin Qiao Mai – Points\, pathways\, functions & indications · Archetypal nature & curriculum issues\nHour 7: Dai Mai – Pre-natal and post-natal pathways · When to consolidate and when to drain · Archetypal nature & curriculum issues \n\n\n\n\n\nDay 3 — Practice – Hands-On Technqiue\, Assessment and Supervised Group Practice\nThis is a practice day for technique and assessment tools so that we can create effective Luo-collateral and 8 Extra treatments. \n\n\nMorning: Luo-collaterals — demonstration and group practice – Examination of Luo points and micro-circulation · Treatment approaches · Bleeding & blood harmonizing points · Single luo treatments · Circuit treatments · Leap Frog (Luo-Source) · Sample treatments\nAfternoon: 8 Extraordinary Vessels — demonstration and group practice – Treatment essentials · Master-couple points · Pathway points & associated points · Timing & technique · Master point location and needle technique · Pulse assessment · Sample treatments \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Presenter\n\nDr. Yvonne R.
