SUMMARY:Treating Peripheral Neuropathy & Geriatrics Effectively With Acupuncture with Matthew Bauer
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \n \nWORKSHOP OVERVIEW\nYou can tell a lot about a society by how its elder members fare. While advancements in public health policies\, nutrition\, and medicine have extended average life spans\, these very advancements seem ill-prepared to deal with the health challenges our elders often face. Acupuncture’s ability to promote natural healing and enhance quality of life can provide safe and effective care for a particularly vulnerable population. \nSaturday’s lesson will first cover special considerations for geriatric populations including: \n\nThe tendency toward overall qi and jing deficiencies\nNeedle gauge and needling depth\nThe role of touch therapy\nEfective communication\nNavigating multiple medication use\n\nThe remainder of Saturday’s training will place a special emphasis treating peripheral neuropathy including those involved with diabetes\, chemotherapy\, and idiopathic (of unknown origin). A review of the current research on acupuncture in treating peripheral neuropathy will be included including the points most frequently used in successful research. \nThis training will qualify all attending to be included in the international Directory of Evidenced Based Acupuncturists promoted on the Acupuncture Now Foundation’s website as part of the ANF’s PN Campaign. \nSunday we will delve into specific point combinations for treating conditions such as: \n\nMacular degeneration\nUrinary incontinence\nLower back pain\nCompression fractures\n\nProtocols for how to advise you patients on elements of self-care will also be offered. Finally\, we will have a productive discussion regarding how a focus on geriatrics can help to grow and maintain a practice. \n\n BECOME PART OF THE PERIPHERAL NEUROPATHY CAMPAIGN\n \nLearn a simple\, research backed protocol to successfully treat peripheral neuropathy and get listed in the PN Directory as part of this workshop. \nPeripheral neuropathy affects millions of people and there is no cure. Acupuncture is the best treatment there is for this condition and we have the research to prove it. Join this workshop and help us spread the good news! \nThrough his work with the Acupuncture Now Foundation\, Matthew has been running a campaign to establish acupuncture as a recognised and effective treatment for those suffering from peripheral neuropathy. All those taking this workshop will be given the opportunity to opt-in to the Directory of Acupuncturists with specialised training in treating peripheral neuropathy\, and promoted through this PN campaign. \nThe content covered during the peripheral neuropathy portion of the workshop on Saturday will include: \n\nDetails of the four main types of PN including clarifying their somewhat confusing terminology.\nOf these which tend to be the more difficult to treat and why.\nHow to explain the treatment procedure to patients and set their expectations including using the research I have put together exclusively for this class.\nThe 10 needle lower extremity and 6 needle upper extremity point formula.\nYou will also learn how select the correct needle gauge.\nHow to stimulate each point for its therapeutic and diagnostic abilities.\nHow to space treatments throughout the entire treatment process.\nWe will cover a simple but important self-care practice you should teach your patients that will increase your success rates.\nYou’ll also learn how to explain to patients when the treatment is working even before they feel any relief of their symptoms.\nWe will also cover how to know when you have reached the maximum benefit of the treatment.\nHow to end the treatment process so that the patient’s progress is as stable as possible.\nHow to recognise and explain to patients when they need to return for tune-up treatments or a second series of booster treatments.\nThen\, in addition to the needling protocol\, we will also go over the points most frequently used in successful research trials – allowing you to practice following a true “Evidenced Based” manner.\nYou will also learn about the campaign to educate the public\, healthcare providers and health policymakers about acupuncture for peripheral neuropathy.\n\n \nREGISTER HERE \nABOUT MATTHEW BAUER\n \nAfter studying Daoism with a 74th generation Daoist Master for 10 years\, Matthew Bauer started his private practice in a small community in Southern California in 1986. Some of his first patients were older adults from nearby elder care facilities that were looking for relief from their difficult to manage conditions. Word spread in these facilities and this patient demographic soon became the majority\, helping to build Matthew’s practice. \nMatthew became involved with acupuncture professional organizations while holding a deep interest in educating the public about the benefits of acupuncture. He authored dozens of articles and two books including the popular practice building book: “Making Acupuncture Pay”. \nIn 2015\, Matthew started the not-for-profit Acupuncture Now Foundation (ANF) to pursue educating the public. The ANF’s latest initiative is their campaign to educate the public\, healthcare providers and health policymakers about acupuncture’s ability to treat peripheral neuropathy. \n  \nDETAILS\nDate: Saturday 17th May to Sunday 18th May 2025\nTime: 9:30am – 5:00pm daily\nVenue: Sydney Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine (SITCM) – 502/25-29 Dixon St\, Haymarket NSW 2000\nCPD: 13 CPD\nIncluded: Notes\, Morning Tea\, Afternoon Tea \nEARLY BIRD PRICING (ends April 18th 2025)\nPractitioner: $695\nStudent: $595 \nREGULAR PRICING\nPractitioner: $795\nStudent: $695 \nREGISTER HERE \nTerms and Conditions\n*Early Bird: Full payment is required 4 weeks prior to the start of the Seminar and Workshop\n*Registrations cancelled up to one week prior to the seminar will be refunded less 20%.
